Se pretty enemy mi era piaciuto, questo mi è piaciuto pure di più. Non è un enemytolover come potrebbe far intendere il titolo e come era chiaro nel primo capitolo, qui le persone che si odiano sono loro stessi. Ma prima la trama.
Lucian è un famoso giocatore di hockey che a causa di una serie di infortuni ha deciso di ritirarsi e tornare nel suo rifugio personale che è la tenuta della nonna Amalie, una ex modella francese dal gusto raffinato. Lucian si è chiuso in se stesso, è un brontolone e non accetta in nessun modo il fatto di non poter più giocare allo sport che ama e che lo definisce.
Emma è un’attrice promettente è bellissima, protagonista di una serie di successo ma che viene imprevedibilmente licenziata facendo morire il suo personaggio. È un duro colpo per lei che non può dire a nessuno dello stop alla carriera in quanto la sua “fine” si vedrà sullo schermo solo al termine della stagione che deve andare in onda. Quindi non prima di almeno sei mesi. Si aggiunge al licenziamento anche la scoperta del tradimento del suo fidanzato, colto in flagrante, mentre è tra le gambe di un altra. Per questo la nonna la convince a rifugiarsi in una tenuta in California di proprietà di una sua amica che, si dice sia il posto perfetto dove rimettersi in sesto isolati dal mondo.
La residenza è esattamente quella di Amalie e i due protagonisti si ritroveranno a passare del tempo insieme e a rinascere ognuno dalle proprie ceneri anche grazie alle doti di pasticcere di Lucian.
Questo libro l’ho amato! La dolcezza di Lucian e le sue insicurezze sono state bellissime da leggere e ho amato il modo che ha avuto di prendersi cura di Emma dal suo arrivo e anche durante le incomprensioni. Certo c’è stato un momento che avrei voluto dargli un colpo in testa per farlo ragionare ma ho anche capito la forza di Emma di lasciarlo andare. Io non sarei stata così forte. Insomma questo libro mi ha emozionata e fatta ridere davvero soprattutto nelle indecisioni di Lucian.

This book made me want to bake again! Like I just wanted to just go in the book and try Lucian's pastries but I'll have to resort to living (and eating those delicious foods) vicariously through Emma.
Okay, so. It's so obvious that they are lusting over each other for nearly half of the book and was really looking forward to them giving in. And was totally glad when they did. I think I might've highlighted a lot, too. I love how they both have something in common that made it easy for them to understand each other.
This book is so sweet, not just because of the food! Well okay, it's the food for me. But I actually get that baking or cooking food is a calming hobby for Lucian. Because it was that for me too (aside from reading). I used to bake when I was in college. It's my way to destress. I rarely bake now when I started working, though. Not because I'm no longer stressing but because I have no time and I'm kinda lazy lately lol.
Anyway, this is a gread and sweet read! I'm glad I picked it up.

It was a cute sweet story. I didn’t love it but halfway thru I did just pick up the audio and continued it that way. But I had a good time reading it. And the characters were cute together

I didn't have very high expectation for this book but it was fantastic. Poor wounded Lucian who doesn't think he is worthy since his injury and Emma being unsure of her career fit perfectly together once the let go of their baggage and grew together. This book also had a super high spice level that I wasn't expecting but was nice. Also Lucian was a pro baker the only thing that could've made this book better would've been to have the recipes that he made throughout the story available.
