4.5 stars. Cooking as a love language thing, but it's the MMC (ex pro athlete) who is secretly (and initially unbeknownst to himself) trying to seduce the FMC through french pastries! Did not know I needed this in my life. I loved this book.

cute and cringy

Aburrido, pobremente escrito, bastante mediocre. Me gustaba esta autora cuando escribía romance paranormal.

kristen callihan is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors! her writing is so beautiful yet effortless at the same time. as the title of this book alludes, make it sweet had me swooning and at some points, even tearing up during my reading. the story was surprisingly emotional and had great themes of finding your identity/self worth and learning to love yourself for who you truly are. lucian is an adorable grump and his “honeybee” emma is an absolute sweetheart. their chemistry was there from the very beginning.

i do think that the third act conflict was wrapped up a little too quickly for my liking, but it somehow still worked for the characters and their relationship. i also wish that the epilogue occurred later into the future than it did. i wanna know what the couple was up to farther down the road! nonetheless, i still stand by my statement that kristen callihan is one hell of a writer. this book was really really great.

Although I find some dialogues a bit cheesy for my taste, Make It Sweet just has the perfect mixture and whisk of an enjoyable and perfect read to end the year 2022.

Make It Sweet was well sweet. It is a stand-alone novel set in the same universe as Dear Enemy, and I loved the glimpses of Macon and Delilah that we got.

Emma and Lucian's story was emotional. They were so similar, feeling broken by events that happened to them. I loved their banter, their chemistry, and the emotions I felt reading this book. I didn't want to put it down. Watching them slowly fall in love felt real.

I also loved the food descriptions and that Lucian is a talented baker. It made me want to eat all of the sweets and bake all of the things!

I loved this world and hope that one of the minor characters will be featured in one of Kristen Callihan's next books.

Check out Make It Sweet if you're looking for a romance with great banter, baked good, lovely characters, and a good plot.

4.5 stars!

This was the perfect getaway romance. With lush descriptions of the lovely Rosemont estate and patisserie Lucian creates, it was easy to fall into the beautiful setting. The story had the right amount of sweet and sexy, and while I thought it was going to be an easy, low-angst read, I appreciated how the conflict was presented and handled. Lucian's struggle with his passion for hockey and his identity and self-worth certainly resonated with me. The way he chose home, that was not only Emma but his love for bringing happiness to others, moved me so. An absolutely lovely romance with main characters that were easy to love and empathise with notwithstanding their fame and all. This is certainly my favourite book from the author thus far!
