My attachment to the narrator's voice after the first one carried me through this one. If this novel was any longer I'm not sure I would've finished it (that's a lie, I probably would have, but if I had to read this over multiple days it would've been an even greater pain).

Context: I've had this borrowed for a bit. Decided to read it because it was short and someone has it reserved after me. Started it on the train (got off at La Croix de Berny because Gare Antony is closed). Listened to it while stuck in traffic on bus 297 and finished it while grocery shopping/cooking/eating.

The first novel at least made some sense. Also I loved the British woman. This time she had less of an active role, and her "replacement" (the widow) was a pain. Nothing ever made sense from start to finish. Unsure if I'll read the third novel (though it's not published yet).

Maybe I just hate audiobooks. The voice actor did a good job with all the secondary character voices but the primary character sounded too pompous and whiny. Not the voice of Alex Easton that I had envisioned from the first book. This is one of those times where you really should read the first book, as it is referenced repeatedly.
