I always love me some Alexandra Bellefluer. This book was very cute and silly but much less farcical than her last book. So if you weren’t a fan of that I think this one might be more your speed.
This is totally unrelated to the content of the book, but the narrator spent the entire book mispronouncing Chelan. I kid you not I was loosing my mind the whole time I was listening. My assumption is that she just listened to the google pronunciation guide, but as a born and bred Washington gal I can tell you it’s wrong.

I am soo pleasantly surprised with how much I adore this book.
After romance author Truly walks into her fiance she's been on a "break with" with another woman, she steps on the set of a podcast expecting to give relationship advice. What she wasn't expecting was charming family (read as divorce) attorney, Colin, who goes against everything she believes in about love. As matters progress, the two realize maybe the definition of love and relationship is different to everyone and all that matters is how it's defined to them.
First and foremost, the bi-representation is amazing. Truly and Colin both identify as bisexual but also both have very different experience with the term. They talk about bi-phobia/bi-erasure in the media, what it's like to be in a heteronormative presenting relationship. It was a conversation I feel like isn't always address in books and it was really refreshing to read.
I loved how Truly and Colin came together, the banter was AMAZING. Colin had a way with words and charm that just jumped off the page. My one gripe was that Truly came off a little immature when it came to the "Parent Trap" aspect of the story, it was a bit hard to believe considering her age. But, it's definitely worth pushing through!

Respectfully. No.
First book by this author and I won't be reading any others. Writing was cringe, FMC was immature and whiny. Giant waste of time for me.

Super cute and quick read. I liked the characters and the story, but definitely felt like some details were missing that could have really added to the story - with the brother, the parents’ relationship, the podcast… it felt like things were mentioned, never resolved, and just forgotten. Overall a cute story that I enjoyed!
eh. it all just felt really fast. and honestly, as a child of divorce, truly not understanding that her parents are allowed to make their own decisions about their relationship was really annoying. especially when she was vindicated in the end.

Thank you to Avon and Harper Voyager and Netgalley for providing a digital review copy in exchange for my honest thoughts.
I have been waiting for this book since I knew it was going to exist, and maybe that's why I have some mixed feelings about it now that I've read it. It's late so I'm going to sleep on it and review later this weekend.

I've really loved the author's other books, and even thoroughly enjoyed parts of this book SO MUCH. However, it felt like a speedrun challenge with how quickly the characters raced from rivals to friends to lovers, and it was so repetitive in wording choices and descriptions (which I can usually overlook a bit, but it happened a lot and, in my opinion, the choices weren't great the first time, let alone the second or third).
In addition, there was at least one scene that hit my brain as "this is from [insert rom com]," and it took me out of the story I was reading because of how directly it matched. I say at least one because I can name the one but vaguely remember having the same thought at a different point but can't remember what it was.
Truly's immaturity throughout was also a struggle for me - I can understand where it's coming from to a point, but it was just... a lot. I fully expected to identify with the romantic over the realist here, but there wasn't a point where I could because I was so exasperated with her.
If I didn't know better I would've thought this an early draft waiting to be fleshed out more rather than a book nearing publication and I was sodisappointed by that. If you're looking to pick up something by this author, I'd recommend her other books.

This book was decent enough for me to finish in a day, but her parents are so annoying (they made me want to quit reading). The main character is very immature and I really thought the book was going to be different. It’s less enemies to lovers and more people who had a little tiff (because she is very immature) to immediate lovers.
