Such a great book! It brings into light many prominent figures and shows us how they, and in turn we, can face adversity through the many stories that have come before us. Holliday tells us through these stories that no obstacle is truly an obstacle, it just seems like one through our perception of the situation. Once we change our perception, we then need to take meaningful action to overcome what is in our path and have the will to do so! This book definitely shows the reader how they can have a more positive outlook on life and the trials and tribulations that come along with it.

This is one of those books that I know I will revisit several times, in several formats. The contents from cover-to-cover were prolific and relevant to every facet of life, especially my own.

Was hoping to learn more about stoicism, but instead felt like a privileged white guy was giving me a patronizing motivational speech at the gym. Repetitive and banal. Rushed anecdotes. Would recommend this content / topic be consumed in the form of a podcast or commencement speech, rather than long form writing.

Generally goods ideas to turn obstacles in motivation. I found the examples a bit too US oriented and not necessarily the references I would take for my life.

Very good book, but sometimes also a little too “Subtle Art”’ish
