I like a lot of the general ideas in this book, however, it starts off by saying that it will not be a book of motivational platitudes and then turns into a volume of motivational platitudes supported by Greco-Roman philosophy.

It's motivational platitudes for people who read "Infinite Jest" in a coffee shop so they seem smart.

An active way of looking and engaging with life. This book illustrates how different people solved/faced their problems, to show them as examples for our daily training.

DID NOT FINISH

This is a summarization of stoicism through the ages with a bit of practical application thrown in. It was recommended to me by a friend and though self-help/self-improvement books aren't really my jam, I gave it a try. And the book was actually pretty good. The problem was that I only have so much time to listen/read and I was never reaching for this book, preferring anything else that I had access to (including the radio, which always a bad sign for a book I'm trying to read!) instead of listening to this. That's not the book's fault, though; it's mine. So I returned it and will swap for something more my style.
