Although he cherry picks famous people who faced trials and succeeded, it’s still a useful guide with examples of how people in recent history used ancient stoic teachings and principles to deal with their challenges, and how we can too.

In many ways, this book is an extension of his earlier book Ego is the Enemy, furthering exploring the philosophy of Stoicism and approaching problems as opportunities. Like the earlier book, the book is full of helpful examples from the worlds of politics, business, sports, and the arts. The writing is clear, direct, and concise. Not nearly as strong as Ego, but still useful.
