Ugh, my heart broke when Lyle is found dead. He was making such strides and the loving relationship that he had with his sister, Rochelle. I was going to write, this is an emotion one, but who am I kidding, they all are, lol. This one is a good one, with a nice balance of dark emotions and light humour.

I usually love the in death series but I couldn’t help but find the book really boring. It was torture trying to get through it. The beginning was quite good and I enjoyed the addition of new characters to the series. However, it all went downhill in the middle and from there it was a struggle to finish the book.

It had a good storyline but the dialogue between characters felt tired and forced. I really didn’t enjoy this book and considering my love for J.d Robbs it will be a first. To be frank it was quite a disappointing read. Reading to the end was very difficult and it took months despite the book being quite brief because I couldn’t get into it.

There was no growth or change in Eve Dallas’s life like in her other books. It felt like a filler.
I honestly hope the next book in the series is much better than this one.

Connections in Death

When the brother of Roarke's newest employee is found dead in his own home, Eve soon realizes that his apparent overdose is a poor attempt at disguising a homicide. The investigation takes Eve and her team into some of the seediest and most dangerous areas of the city as the victim's connections expose gang affiliations and rivalries. Can Eve uncover the truth before the city erupts in gang warfare?

Unfortunately, this is one of the weakest installments in the series. Even though the death of a young man who has turned his life around is sad, none of the investigative elements are particularly interesting, and the pacing is also slower than usual. The motivations and villains are revealed relatively early, and there is very little tension or suspense to draw the reader in completely.

Even though the fan favorites all put in an appearance, there is no character development, and much of the humor and snark that characterizes the series is also missing.

All in all, this addition is disappointing. Better luck with the next one!

I know I said it before but I will say it again - hats off to J.D. Robb for keeping it fresh and interesting after so many books in this series.

This one was about gangs, their dynamics etc. Fun as always.

Another great installment in the In Death series. Wall to wall action from beginning to end, and some scenes with Crack. What more could you ask for?
