A Dália Azul

Nora Roberts

3.88 AVERAGE

My first Nora Roberts book, to see what the fuss is about. Strong characterization, and I liked that she fleshed out all the characters, not just the main pair. The ghost story was interesting, but not exactly plot-driving. The sex scenes were painfully cliched and skim-worthy, even when that means skipping to the next track. But mostly, I loved the setting, and the OMG! accurate accents and overall quality of the voice performance on the audio. (They got the difference between Arkansas and deep South right! And the coastal variation sounded distinct too, though I don't know that one in real life to say how accurate it was.) So the fourth star is mostly for letting me soak myself in Southern and feel powerfully homesick and nostalgic. I'll definitely be reading the rest of the trilogy for that reason, but I haven't decided whether I'll read more NR after that. Strong characterization says maybe, awful sex scenes say no.

this is like a 4.5/5 for me; love nora roberts and all her characters! excited to read about roz and mitch

Read for Old Town Book’s Bad Romance Book Club

General consensus from the book club: this book SUCKED. The romance and constantly changing POV just didn’t work and gave us whiplash. The most interesting part of this book was the ghost. We literally just weren’t feeling the love.

I enjoyed this and I am excited to read book

Loveable characters: Yes
Diverse cast of characters: Yes
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

This book has just enough action moments to keep you enthralled and guessing at what's coming next while rooting that Stella stops getting in her own way. It leaves on such a cliffhanger of excitement and intrigue of who Amelia is to the Harpers.

Typical Nora Roberts book and even though I have outgrown my taste for her books a bit it was still nice fluff for holiday reading.

Very good book, but that's what I expect from one of my favorite authors. I loved reading about the big old house and the business side of running a nursery. I love gardening, so this book fit right in with that. The big old house is haunted, of course, so that was fun too. I am definitely curious about the Harper Bride who haunts the children's bedroom, singing a lullaby to them every night. The romance between Logan and Stella was good too, and I loved their constant banter. I'll definitely be continuing on with the trilogy.

After being immersed in murder, mayhem, and mystery, it was wonderful to set down with such a lovely book. Nora Roberts creates such amazing and enjoyable trilogies. Three strong women become a family. Not by blood but by choice. I love the support they lend each other and the acceptance. I would write more but Black Rose is setting on my bedside table.
