This is a great tale, though the monologues are tedious and repetitive. It is a great story, and the end is chilling!
I had to read this for school in the past couple days and it was incredibly dramatic. Oedipus accidentally killed his father, did sex stuff with his mother, and leads his mother to committing suicide. He even had children with his mother (which was no fault of his own) and tells his children they are doomed forever as they are a product of incest. It was a lot to take in and was kind of entertaining to read!

To write a review of one of the foundational documents of Western civilization would be hubris, so I'll just note here that I don't think I'd ever actually read it before. I was, of course, familiar with the story of the myth, and I have read most of the ancient Greek stuff like The Oddyssey and The Iliad, but I'm pretty sure this is my first time actually reading Oedipus Rex, just as I'm sure it's most of my ENG 102 students' first time reading the SparkNotes.
