April 2015 // I have really been enjoying this series. Eve is an interesting character to read about. This one was all about an illegal drug and finding out who was the murderer before her friend went down for a crime Eve knew she didn't commit.

Immortal in Death (4 stars)-Ahh we get Leonardo in this one. We have Eve investigating a murder which links back to Mavis. Let's get it out of the way, there's no freaking way that Eve would be allowed on this case. Okay, moving along. Things do feel a bit far-fetched in this one. I definitely thought this one was a reach at times. Robb gives a ton of probably suspects though. I think I like that better than the later series when you know right away who did it, or when you realize that Eve knows in seconds who a murderer is. We also are dealing with Eve trying to come to grips with the fact that she has agreed to marry Roarke. There's an explosive thing that is revealed in this one that definitely shapes the series as it goes on with Eve finally remembering her past and what it means for her as a cop.

Loved it. Eve seems to constantly have her personal life get mixed in with work lately--first Roarke, now Mavis. I absolutely adore the side characters in this series. I love the addition of Peabody in this installment. Yet again, the blend of the case & Eve's life & relationship with Roarke are awesome.I get the tension of the case to solve, and the highs of watching Eve stumble along with her love for Roarke. We, right along with Eve, learn more about her childhood. Everything about this series does it for me.

Holy cow! The twist ending was amazing... You think you have it all figured out and then it turns in a crazy direction. Love it, love the story of Dallas and Roarke, and I'm excited to read the next one!

I like to be surprised, but unfortunately I had this one figured out. Perhaps I’ve figured out the formula of the “In Death” series. I like them a lot but it wasn’t surprising.
