4 solid stars.

These books just keep getting better and better. I really really liked this book. The mystery was top notch, even though I had him pegged for it from the first time he was introduced, and had all the twists and turns I love in a murder mystery.

I just keep liking this series more and more. I will certainly keep reading. Thank goodness there are many more to go!

I have been waiting to get back into reading the In Death series and after this latest adventure I can’t wait to get to the next book. It is fast growing to become one of my favorite series ever.

In this new mystery, Eve finds herself arresting her friend in connection with murder. The problem is everyone seems to have an alibi or memory loss – which leaves Eve relying on instincts to find out who’s causing all the problems.

Everything either revolves around one of two things for Eve – her upcoming wedding or a new drug called Immortal. And Eve’s not the only one searching, when she is teamed with a new partner and another detective from the illegals department who can’t wait to get his captain’s badge.

As if Eve doesn’t have enough going on with models and informants getting killed, her dreams become reality as she remembers her childhood trauma – risking not only her career but her future with Roarke.

I loved this book. I can’t wait to get to the next one.

Loved the characters, Eve, an amazing detective with hidden past trauma and Roake, a hot rich man who fell in love with Eve while being one of the suspect of the murder she was working on. Great plot, liked how twisty the turns of events, the culprit was unexpected until almost half of the book. Loved the chemistry between the mc's. Wow idk why I didn't read this before maybe the number of books in a series looks scary but loved this first book so far. A well written book as expected of the author an all time best seller author.

Still having fun with this series. Engaging character driven mysteries and a fun romance on top of it.

I liked it, though I have some quibbles.

Firstly, it's a bummer that Eve is constantly having to deal with the legions of women Roarke has banged before they met, but the first time we have a male showing interest in her, the guy turns out to be the baddie.

Also, poor Peabody. And I really do like her. This is going to be hard to get over, and she doesn't deserve that.

Secondly, I don't get Summerset. He is an absolute bag of shit. I mean, he has been awful to her from the outset, for no goddamn reason. Roarke gets angry that she doesn't consider that place her home, but keeps this asshole around. On what was probably the worst day of her career, she comes "home" where he immediately eviscerates her. I'm sorry, but no. Just no. That's not home. It will never be home. It's not a safe place, a sanctuary, the way a home should be. It's yet another place where she needs to keep her guard up to protect herself from attacks. The fact that she tolerates it, I get - her self-worth is terrible, and she doesn't really feel like she belongs in Roarke's life, so to her this is expected, normalized, probably what she assumes everyone thinks. The fact that he tolerates it...makes me think less of him. Much, much less. Yes, I get their backstory, and that buys Summerset a lot of room. But Roarke has never even spoken up in her defense. It wouldn't be acceptable even if Summerset was his father or mother. It's not acceptable AT ALL, and just keeps her off balance and out of step in his life. Like a guest in his life, not someone who has a place in it.

Thirdly, I wish we got to see Radford and Justin face consequences. Okay, they didn't murder anyone. They did, however, create and start distribution of a designer drug that is not only highly addictive, it fucking kills people. Like with the Angelinis in the last book, I was disappointed that it seemed like these rich people could violate the law at will and face zero consequences. And in the end, act all fired up and self righteous because in the end it was proved they weren't murderers. Congrats, dirtbag. You still broke the law and should be in jail.

Lastly, I feel ripped off that we didn't get to see the wedding... Or even Roarke's reaction to her in the dress.

But otherwise I liked it. I was suspicious of Casto, even as I didn't want him to be the bad guy. Something about how he was constantly horning in on their case just raised a flag.

Loving this series. Love all the characters Eve,Roarke, Feeney, Whitney, Peabody,Nadine, Dr Mira, Mavis, even characters like Crack. Listened again on audible and hats off to the narrator, she brings the story alive and gives each character a different voice. Eve Dallas you really are good at integrating your suspects, go get them!

One last comment for my review. I ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Eve Dallas. Best female character I’ve read for a series of books in a long time. Anyone reading this series should look at Eve and Roark Diviantart there are some wonderful pictures of them.
