This book made me laugh so hard! After reading Dial A for Aunties, I couldn’t wait to read the sequel, and this did NOT disappoint. The entire plot, the writing, and the character development were on point. I loved it just as much as the first book, and I can’t wait to see what else the author has in store. New favourite :)
I wanted to love this, since I loved the first book in this series, but unfortunately it was too repetitive and too much of the same. Ultimately it was predictable, and doesn't wrap up all of the family drama in the end.

How I selected this book
Have to read about the aunties
Plot summary
Meddy is getting married, but she overhears her wedding planners on the phone and it turns out they are mafia, going to off someone at her wedding. So the aunties and Meddy spend the whole wedding trying to present the murder, and this involves kidnapping three of the uncle wedding planners. But it turns out they aren't mafia, but they are related to Ah Guan, who Meddy accidentally killed in the first book, and they are trying to get revenge and get Meddy's family in trouble with the law. But when they find out Ah Guan wasn't actually a nice guy, they get over it.
Likes
• The aunties are super fun
• The antics were wild and crazy (though not entirely believable)
Dislikes
• Lots of people would dislike the totally crazy things that could never actually happen, but I could suspend disbelief and just enjoy the crazy antics.
Final thoughts
Will definitely read the third book in the series when it comes out

Another fantastic caper by Jesse Q. Sutanto!
There are references to the first book, but it completely stands on its own. And while everything is wrapped up in a satisfying way, I do hope the series continues!
I love the focus on female characters. There are men of course, but the narrative centers on the women, kind of like in Jane Austen's writing.
I love all the twists and turns, some of which I saw coming and some of which I did not. I love how Sutanto drops in clues so the twists don't come out of nowhere, but there's so much going on that it's not too obvious where things are going.
Did I mention thats she's funny? This book is so funny! Big Aunt and Fourth Aunt especially crack me up. I hope Second Aunt gets developed further, and I'd love to meet all of those elusive cousins!
Also, Risa Mei is a fantastic narrator.

Four Aunties and a Wedding by Jesse Q. Sutanto continues the hilarity and drama of Dial A for Aunties. This time, Meddelin and Nathan's Oxford wedding is infiltrated by fake vendors intending to do someone harm. The aunties are on the case, determined to save the wedding and stop the baddies while wearing their fluorescent purple outfits. There will be kidnapping, accidental drugging, aunties squabbling, and secrets uncovered. And maybe a wedding.
This book was just as fun as the first, and I'm glad I decided to pick it up soon after finishing Dial A for Aunties. Once again, this is more a comedy of errors than a mystery. There's a touch of mystery about who the baddies are and what their motive was, but that was reasonably easy to figure out.
I again really liked the family dynamics. Meddy still struggles with loving and appreciating her aunties and bring embarrassed by their over-the-top ways, while they continue to be both overbearing and absolutely supportive. I liked that Nathan's family acted as a bit of a foil, but I wish they had come around a bit more by the end.
I think there will be another book, or at least Sutanto left room for another book. I'm a bit scared to know what the aunties will get up to in the next one, but I'd be very happy to read it.

Instagram made me read these books! Dial A For Aunties and Four Aunties and a Wedding looked and sounded fun to read. The verdict? Well they were not what I expected! In Four Aunties and a Wedding, Meddy marrying Nathan, her in England creates more layers of messiness where the family need to hire a wedding company (because the auntie organisers are guests). However the wedding organisers are not who Meddy’s family think they are. I was concerned that the aunties were made out to be too over the top in the second book, and we didn’t see enough of Nathan and Meddy, except for the bits where they fleetingly are together and disaster ensues. I think you need to check your understanding of reality at the door with these books, and if you’re okay with that then you will have a lot of fun with it. There are a few cultural aspects that the author throws in, such as the hughe focus on respecting your elders, and not speaking back to them, as well as following family/cultural practices. These are books to read to clear your mind, have a bit of fun and take nothing seriously.
The plot dragged and really hit on my embarrassment squick.
