The plot dragged and really hit on my embarrassment squick.
i hate reading about weddings and this one was just so generally boring
pre-read: Oh my god the cover is so beautiful! I want it now!
post-read:
This was a sequel I couldn’t wait to read because I LOVED the first book. (And I love the cover). As always, I loved the Aunties, their banter, their way of talking (Risa Mei did and amazing job porting Meddy and all the Aunties), and how the Aunties weren’t threatened by the mafia one bit. I did prefer the first book because of all the chaotic antics. This book mostly had Meddy worrying and lying so I didn’t particularly care for the wedding itself. Despite that, — slight spoiler — I love how the conflict in the book was connected to the previous book. I really enjoyed the final few chapters.

Four Aunties and a Wedding by Jessie Sutanto is the sequel to Dial A for Aunties and sadly it did not live up to expectations for me.
The book felt like a rush job where a sequel was pushed for by the publisher after the first book was an unexpected hit. Dial A was a really great read. It was funny and deliciously different. The four Asian "Aunties" were all brilliant characters. This time round though the storyline was forced, the antics too over the top and the Aunties felt more like caricatures.
I finished this book 2 days ago and I'm now actually struggling to remember how the ending came together! I know I'm on holidays but I would like a book to be a little more memorable.
So while I rated this ⭐️⭐️⭐️ as I finished it I now think I was being a bit too generous. I would definitely recommend that you read Dial A for Aunties as it really is fantastic but I'd then suggest giving its sequel a miss.

3.5 Stars because I wanted a happy wedding day. I didn’t like that the bride didn’t get to enjoy her day. I did, however, laugh out loud a number of times with the aunties. I will read every book in this series because o enjoy the writing and the characters so much.

The Aunties are back for more hilarious escapades! Whoop!
It's impossible for me not to get excited to read this after enjoying [b: Dial A for Aunties|53310061|Dial A for Aunties (Aunties #1)|Jesse Q. I mean, it's Meddy finally planning her wedding with her one true love, and here comes her Mom and Aunties with their komodo dragon fascinators. So... iconic! And that's not even the most entertaining part yet because the Aunties are bound to fight tooth and nail to keep the Mafia family from ruining Meddy's special day. It's chaotic, it's funny, and truly over the top!
Now let me just say that I truly adored the Aunties and enjoyed Meddy's voice in the first book. However, I felt like towards the latter part of this book, the Aunties were slowly losing their novelty. What they were doing were becoming harder to believe and were also bordering annoying and corny. With all due respect, I think it is time [a: Jesse Q. Sutanto|19278992|Jesse Q. Sutanto|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1564130716p2/19278992.jpg] ends the series here. It was a whole lot of fun and we indeed had a blast, but we gotta leave this while it still remains a good experience.
I'm looking forward to more books written by Jesse tho!

Too much plot, too few pages.
The first 25% of the book is absolutely delightful before the PLOT swoops in and muddles everything up. The ending is pretty satisfying, I just think we needed to take a more…scenic route to get there. With 100% less mafia.
