Another fun, ridiculous, wild story.
I really enjoyed this book about Meddy and the aunts. This one takes them to England where hijinks ensure during Meddy’s wedding. I laughed at all the crazy situations the family found themselves in.
I really appreciated the look at the different types of immigrant families with the juxtaposition of Meddy’s family with Nathan’s parents. It was sweet to see Meddy defend her family’s personality and really reflect on how they made her who she’s become.
Just an aside, because of how the language is presented, there were some moments when I had a hard time following. But I think that was also cause I wasn’t fully present when reading. It doesn’t take a lot to follow, but it helps to not be too distracted, in my opinion. And perhaps the struggle also comes from the fact that the story is told Meddy’s perspective and things are all over the place. Of course things will feel chaotic.
Overall another fun story. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for something a little wild and crazy.

The first book was surprising and charming. The sequel felt tired and predictable.
This is the second book in the Aunties series by Jesse Q. Sutanto and sadly it fell a bit flat for me. I loved the first book in this series because it was absolutely ridiculous, but I connected with it some how. In this book, it was ever more ridiculous and over the top and I felt it was being ridiculous to get laughs rather than trying to get out of the unbelievable situations.
I love Meddy's relationships with her family, and how accepting (and sometimes tolerant) Nathan was of her family's antics. I found I liked the parts where they were being themselves in their own way (like getting English lessons, their fascinators) over the stuff that they did to "prevent" a murder.
I also didn't feel the stakes in this book. They were trying to prevent a murder, but it (and the wedding) fell to the back burner to get singular laughs of the aunties just doing out of place things.
This was still a fun novel, and a quick read, but it just lacked some of the lustre of the first one. I see there is a third coming out and I am interesting to see what will happen in that one!

I so wanted to love this, but I think it was a little too chaotic for me to enjoy.
Meddy Chan and her fiancé Nathan are getting married in England and the Aunties are back and chaos ensues. Meddy wants her Aunties to enjoy the wedding so her Aunties find another family of wedding vendors to help plan the big day. Enter the mafia.
From the Aunties' wedding attire, to their fake English accents, and trying to ensure no one is "offed" on Meddy's wedding day, I think it was all a bit too much. Not to mention, Meddy hardly spends any time participating in the events of her own wedding.
I liked it, but couldn't love it.

I am so sad to sad this because Dial A was one of my favorite reads in January and I was SOOO excited for this one but I just couldn't finish it. I felt so bad for the aunts because you could really tell that they were trying for Meddy but she was just so mean. I got through 50 pages in May and I haven't touched it since then. I am so upset
3.5
this is not as good as the first book. but still funny, very funny indeed.#
Again, you need to listen to the audiobook!!! unless you are capable of mimicking the aisan accent and emotions in your head. great narrator!
However, this story is pretty straight forward, i have predicted the whole book at 20%.
Its not as delicate as the other too books i have read from Jesse Q. there wasnt any surpise.
But i still love the fun elements in the story, loved the characters. related 100%
would love to read more from this author.

Once again, an installment in the Aunties series was 100% unbelievable, and once again, I 100% did not care. This was a good escape for me, funny, a bit predictable but not in an obnoxious way, with goofy good-natured jokes about things like lizard hats. I'll read more as soon as Sutanto writes more.

3.75 stars. I wanted to love this as much as the first but Meddy’s erroneous takes in keeping Nathan in the dark just got tiresome, old and repetitive. I found myself super frustrated by her character.
This book was still enjoyable and had charm like the first book but for me it just felt like Meddy lacked any growth from the first book.

I had a lot of second hand embarrassment with this book😅 I still love the Aunties, but unfortunately in this round, I didn’t really care for Meddy -she was kinda annoying. Also, figured out the plot by the second chapter, so that was disappointing
So disappointing because the first book was amazing. This one lacked the charm
