The first book ‘Dial A for Aunties’ was excellent, really funny even if unrealistic. But it was just a fun little book to read that I enjoyed very much. Unfortunately the second book is nowhere near as good as the first part. It is dull, the story line weak, the characters are kind of dumb and can’t figure out anything… Meddy gets married to Nathan, of course in the prestigious Christ Church college in Oxford. Ok, yes his family is rich - but that rich?? And instead of preparing the wedding herself with her family (because they have a family wedding business) they hire another family. Who turns out to be the mafia… or so they think.
The Aunties are back in another cozy mystery. The dialogue between the aunties and Meddy was funny and well-written. I listened to the audiobook and the narrator did a great job bringing all of the characters to life. The audiobook did a good job of illustrating the author’s goal of telling the story of her Chinese-Indonesian family without stereotyping it. I am interested to see where the third book goes!
Another fun romp with Meddie, Nathan and the four crazy but lovable Aunties. This time it’s Meddie and Nathan’s wedding and just when you think nothing can go wrong, whoops, JINX! What happens when you plan an overseas wedding and somehow the mafia is involved? Chaos ensues. This was a lot of fun. Nice to learn the Aunties names this go around and more about their characters. It left off with the reader wondering if there will be a third in the series.
if i felt like being rational, there are so many things in this book that 1) don't make any sense 2) are seriously frustrating and 3) would make me rage quit any other book.
alas, i am not rational and this series is 100% a good time read for me. these aunties make me laugh and what i wouldn't GIVE for netflix/amazon/hulu to pick this up and make a movie/mini-series.
also, risa mei is an absolutely FANTASTIC narrator and honestly brings this up a whole star.

2.5 rounding up. Should be “how to ruin and not enjoy your wedding”
The story was cute, but unfortunately not as good as the first volume. And I already predicted the plot twist after 38 pages :/ Kinda ruined the whole reading experience
I really enjoyed the first book, but this one got a little too ridiculous for me at times.
These books honestly stress me out they're so chaotic! Still a lot of fun
I hate to have to do this because I LOVED Dial A for Aunties but this book was just….not good.
1. The author continuously references events from the first book like we didn’t read that one. It’s like, we know you killed Ah Guan, you don’t need to constantly remind us and reference it.

3.5 stars
the story was very over the top and i loved it!!! it was a really fun read.
i loved the aunties - they're so crazy and caring. i still love the way they care more about being respectful and not cursing the family than committing crimes. that never got old!
the new characters were really fun as well - especially when they meet meddy's fam!
the second half of the book was a bit underwhelming. it was a lot of meddy putting down her family and hiding what was happening from nathan on their wedding day. it got old real fast! she does finally accept her family in the end and tell nathan the truth, which was really nice, but it took too long.
it's not as good as the first one (nothing comes close to the ICONIC eggplant conversation!) but it's still a really fun and lighthearted read!!!
