Definitely lots of triggers (which it makes in the beginning) and I had a hard time with some of them because I had been through similar or the same, but overall the book was so good and I loved how H.D. Carlton represented those things so well

I wasn’t expecting this book to be so good. The plot was actually super enthralling. It did get a bit repetitive during the lighthouse scenes with the hot and cold attitudes the characters had towards each other. But I understood the reasoning behind the choices of the protagonists. The book was dark and mysterious and a bit haunting at times, and the spice level was 4/5.
Enzo was a complete ass for half of the book, but the end of the novel redeemed him. And Sawyer was easily manipulated and childish.

This book wasn’t horrible but also was not my favorite in the whole world. I definitely don’t like the enemies to lovers trope (especially in like a toxic kind of way) so if you also don’t and you prefer a much more romantic type of thing, this may not be your vibe. Even though the book did eventually get there, I could never get over some things like
baiting the sharks with her bloody lip while drowning her
Don’t get me wrong, I love the rough kind of love with a little bit of jeering but this book did it a lot. Also, I think another problem I had with this book was that Sawyer had little to no will power against Enzo. And the author tried to find a balance by trying to make it the same vice versa but it wasn’t equal at all. So I don’t know, it felt super abusive which leads me to distrust men. This book for sure wasn’t my style, but it wasn’t a horrible book. I definitely enjoyed it better when the plot thickened to unravel the thriller part of things.
Kacey and her stitched mouth was the biggest surprise of the book it wasn’t a horrible book. I definitely enjoyed it better when the plot thickened to unravel the thriller part of things.

. The author ate with that plot for reallll. And I think that bit really had a lot of development and build up. It didn’t blow my mind but I was shocked.
