A little too far down the unbelievability spectrum. A baby climbs a wall using her teeth...

I like that Sunny is using some real words

Another solid entry in the series. It looks like the triples are going to be another recurring plot device in these books, and I hope that a stronger story arc starts taking over the rest of this series, because the repetitiveness of it is starting to wear on me. I did like the twist with Esmé, and I hope that Beatrice's mention in the story leads to a payoff later. Really, the only things these books need is a stronger arc connecting them, because the writing is still entertaining and "Snicket" has a fantastic narrative voice.

Miss Esme, is adultery in?

I'm giving this 5 stars because it's Lemony Snicket, and really, enough said.

I got really excited, in this book you're slowly getting more information about V.F.D. and I just want more.
It's been a while since I last read this series...so all the details are kinda foggy.
I remember the jist of it, and it's certainly nice to get the information again.
Once again, all I wanted to do while reading was kick Olaf in the you-know-what and hug the poor adorable kids. Gosh.

And Lemony's writing...ugh, so good.

This volume of the Series of Unfortunate Events wasn't my least favorite, though I've found that's not saying much for the series. It had some different twists I wasn't expecting and I felt like the guardians in this story were at least more interesting than previous stories. I also liked the use of literary devices to advance the story. I think they'd be great for readers just beginning to learn about the specific devices that were named and defined.

I will say, I howled laughing when the Baudelaires are looking for something to use in place of a rope and Sonny holds up ties and says "Armani." I was grateful I was alone while listening to the book because I needed a second to recover.
