Got some good Bowie tidbits and insight but I did not enjoy it as an audiobook. Not the right fit (think economics professor) for this ballad to Bowie.

Amazing! If you are a Bowie fan you'll want to read this. I would read it again now that I've finished it while playing the songs/albums Rob is referencing as I think that would be the best way to experience it. However, I think my hubby is sick of Bowie for right now.

This one book brings back your whole life. All of your phases, growth spurts, times you had no idea who you were or would ever be, when music meant everything to you and it really was beyond identity.

You realize while Bowie is just the most amazing space-alien god artist whom you are lucky to look upon but know deep down that while he touches your soul and you understand each other, you don't really understand Bowie at all.

I'll probably read everything by Rob now that I've read this.

Amazing book, written by a fan for fans and the intrigued. Rob Sheffield's career as a music critic and his passion as a fan of Bowie fuels this book. Lovely details and stories. Fantastic read with no fiction fluff. Recommended for anyone influenced by Bowie.

Sometimes a book really strikes the right notes at the right time in your life. Having just lost my father to cancer, I really appreciated Mr. Bowie's dignity before his passing. This was a love letter for David. Well worth reading.

I like Rob Sheffield a lot, but I do feel like you really have to know a broad range and depth of things to know what he's talking about. And, while I like Bowie just fine, I was never a huge Bowie fan--which Rob clearly is.

So it's a good book for Bowie people, maybe not so good for Sheffield people. Stick with "Love Is a Mix Tape."

Written shortly after Bowie's death, this doesn't have Sheffield's signature exuberance and giddiness, it's quite sad at times. Still good music writing, but missing a little something.

I read this book for a scientific research paper and I absolutely loved it. It not only has all the right information in it, it also has that personal touch that I could relate to. I especially fell in love with the last chapter. I thought it was the perfect way to end the book. Absolutely amazing.
