Not really special but good. If it was boring, I'd never go through all these pages, but I guess the book got me all excited to know how it continues. I relate to all of the main characters in a certain degree and i do get sad when one of them dies. Especially because i want to get to know them better, Elias & Rebecka could have been very interesting story lines. I also like the fact that i can't predict what is going to happen. Overall i'm happy having read this book.

Pirmoreiz lasīju pirms pāris gadiem, tāpēc daudz bija aizmirsts un atkal varēju iedzīvoties pārsteigumos :D Joprojām augstākais vērtējums par reālistisku pusaudžu dzīvi, tomēr maģiskās un apokalipses lietas vēl nav ieguvušas pilnu potenciālu un ir vairāk fonā.

Because I only semi-enjoyed The Circle, I approached Fire with some trepidation. I'm glad to report that this is a better book than the first, still too long and with passages that get a little confusing, but it was better.
Better how? The girls, the Chosen Ones, are better delineated than before, and the story is sharper. Having said that, if you haven't read The Circle it really won't make sense who's who and what their backstory is (even with that, it got confusing at times). The "Positive Engelfors" movement didn't need the magical intervention (although, of course, it had to have one in the context of this trilogy) because we've seen movements like that before in real life. And the final scene, in the gym, started to get a little too Carrie-esque but luckily it veered away from that before the comparisons got too close.
By the end of this middle book, the girls (now down to four) are closer and understand each other better; they still have no real guide, as the Council clearly against them and their mentor has disappeared. The apocalypse is still on its way and the Blessed One may not have been responsible for the PE events. An editors shears would have worked wonders on this trilogy, getting rid of the padding and confusion to really draw readers in.

Me ha gustado igual e incluso un poco más que el primero (a pesar de la larga distancia que dejé para leer entre uno y otro), así que supongo que el comentario, por ejemplo, de Tonarsboken: <"Fuego" es incluso mejor que "El Círculo">, pues que quizá no vaya tan mal encaminado… Eso sí, si tuviéramos que juzgar el libro por la cubierta… ¡Jamás se me hubiese ocurrido de leerlo, sinceramente! Es algo escalofriante.. Completamente gris con un corazón en medio en donde la sangre se desborda hacia abajo y rodeado de rosas blancas y una cruz también blanca.. Ciertamente escalofriante. ¡Ah, y unas gotas de sangre al final de la palabra "FUEGO", del mismo título!
Frases que me han gustado, sorprendido, chocado:
-Cenar con ellos es tan agradable y tranquilo como un picnic en una trinchera.
-Profesores como él no crecen en los árboles.
-Es como si alguien hubiera plantado una orquídea exótica entre los abetales de la ciudad.
– ¿Te gusta ese libro? – No. Me encanta.
-Yo solo leo libros en el idioma original. La traducción no es más que un obstáculo entre tú y lo que el autor quiere transmitir.
-…en la axila se le ve una gran mancha de sudor con forma de Groenlandia. Y Groenlandia va creciendo en la axila.
-¿Quién es ella para juzgar sus deseos de luz antes que las sombras?
– Supongo que tú lo llamarías <>.
– Gracias por darme la patada cuando estoy en el suelo.
-Hay que arrancar las malas hierbas antes de que se lleven todos los nutrientes del jardín.
-Ambos labios se funden hasta que apenas se sabe dónde empieza la de él y dónde acaba la de ella.
– No entiendo como alguien tan inteligente como tu puede ser tan ingenuo. Crees que todo es muy simple. Correcto o incorrecto, bueno o malo. Pero lo importante es la meta, no cómo se llega a ella. – ¿Quieres decir que el fin justifica los medios? – Exacto.

IDA ha pasado al mundo de los muertos… Más que de los muertos, al mundo de Matilda. Ahora Ida está a manos de Matilda, juntas tienen una misión al igual que las cuatro Elegidas restantes de "El Círculo". ¡Espero que en el siguiente libro se reencuentren y puedan estar todas juntas de nuevo.. Mira que a Ida la he llegado a odiar (la que más) y ahora.. la verdad es que- ¡no, no, no!- quiero que vuelva.. Eso de que realmente no fue un beso que recibió de Gustaf sino un boca-boca que se hace a alguien cuando está a punto de irse al mundo de los muertos.. eso.. ¡me mata! Y yo que pensaba que era un beso.. un beso real.. un beso con sentimiento…
Por otro lado tenemos a VANESSA.. y a LINNÉA… A mí me da que ambas van a acabar juntas.. Y, siendo sincera, me daría algo de repelus leer líneas que traten sobre ellas, sobre su futura (posible, muy probable) relación.. No veo a Vanessa convirtiéndose en lesbiana ipsofacto. Pero el amor es el amor, si se quieren..
Tenemos por ahí a MINOO… Es la única con la que, en el campo de las relaciones amorosas, dudo más.. ¿Gustaf o Víktor? Víktor o Gustaf? Me recuerda un tanto a Memorias de Idhún.. Kirtash = Víktor, mientras que Jack = Gustaf. ¿Qué será de Minoo? Es muy lista pero considerada muy fea.. Seguro que me parecería a ella… Me cae muy bien esa chica.. al menos así la he visto cuando leía sus líneas.. Es la única que me ha dado mejor y más buena impresión a lo largo de todo el libro. (No digo el primero porque, sinceramente, ya no recuerdo mucho cómo eran los personajes, me refiero a sus líneas.. La que mejor recuerdo es a Anne- Karin). Además, uno de los motivos por los que más me identifico con ella es el hecho de tener padrastro.
ANNe- KARIN ha sido una chica algo marginada.. Yo la veo un poco como Mar, amiga mía: gordita, un poco fea, con una família bastante desestructurada.. Rara, vaya. Alguna vez me he identificado también con ella, sobretodo en situaciones de quedar con las amistades y la ropa.

I liked this one so much better than the first! Finally, finally, the girls are starting to work together, and they feel like a group, rather than random individuals who don't have anything to do with each other.
A few thoughts: Nicolaus. He just sort of disappeared. And why, exactly, did they have to keep everything a secret? Like, why couldn't Principal what's-her-bucket know about the demons? She's on their side, after all. Even more so in this book. And although I like understanding more about "The Council" and everything, they just make everything more complicated, right? Why are they such haters? Who don't KNOW ANYTHING? Also, I was disappointed by Viktor's character. I thought he might be a pseudo-Elias, or that he would be more involved (positively involved) with the Circle. Perhaps the next book.
The Most Surprising goes to: Ida. Which in and of itself is surprising. Halfway through the book, I was so incredibly frustrated, because IDA. WASN'T. CHANGING. She was just as an awful person as she was all through The Circle. What's the point in having such an angry, peevish character, IF THEY AREN'T GOING TO CHANGE. But, then, without you really knowing when or how, she does. Slowly, she starts thinking about others besides herself. She starts to realize that she's been doing wrong, and that she needs to be a team player. And then... then...... that ending. That ending... I was just starting to like her!
Also: I totally called the lesbian action back in the beginning of Book 1.
And: POTTY MOUTH ALERT!

Nu när man har lärt sig hur Sara och Mats skriver blir det mycket bättre och definitivt enklare att läsa. I min recension av "Cirkeln" skrev jag att det var förvirrande när de hoppade mellan alla dessa huvudkaraktärer men det tyckte jag inte nu.
Karaktärerna är något av det bästa med dessa böcker. De som är kvar är verkligen så olika och med olika personligheter och det är inte särskilt svårt att förstå dem. Den enda jag kanske inte riktigt har någon koppling till är Anna-Karin.
Boken är tjock, precis som den första, men det märks knappt. Det känns som om läsningen går på autopilot och helt plötsligt kunde jag tänka "shit, nu har jag läst 150 sidor av bara farten". Boken är snäppet bättre än den första men de hamnar ändå på samma betyg och det enda som känns jobbigt just nu är att det är drygt 1,5 år kvar innan vi får läsa sista delen i trilogin, "Nyckeln".
