There is a lot of sex in this book. I've said it. Mucho sex. Oh, and it's M/M, so if you're not interested in that, then, this isn't the book for you.

It's really good. I read it in a day - a work day. So yeah, a long night, while I was trying to finish up another book, but damn, I couldn't put this down. Or, more accurately, turn it off, as I got the audiobook. Often when I'm listening to audiobooks around the house, I've got ear buds in so I don't annoy my family, but I'll take them out and let the Kindle play out loud when I'm getting changed, doing dishes, whatever. Not this book. Too much sex for the kids and the hubs. The guy who can barely make it through Outlander, lots of whining and complaining, would not be down for this. I listened to it while we were watching Dancing with the Stars.

I haven't read a ton of M/M romance novels, but this isn't my first. I'd read every other book in the Black Dagger Brotherhood and was familiar with the characters of Blaylock and Quinn, so by the time Lover at Last was published, I was ready for it. Lover at Last was a very thoughtful and mature look at a M/M relationship (among manly vampires). I'd read a fair amount of paranormal romance by that time (but I wasn't writing reviews of romances back then - my bad), and it seemed to blend right in with the rest of the series. I liked it better than quite a few other ones in the series, actually.

So I can honestly say I've yet to read a poorly written M/M romance book. I'm sure they are out there. But, in my now trend of two, there is a lot of sex. Many places. Every damn night. Him actually started out as a friends to lovers, so there was a bit of a slow burn, no insta-love here. That was good. But then once they got at it, well, everything else fell away.

The rest of the plot was decent. I liked the subplot of the mysterious reason why Ryan had stopped talking to Jamie 4 years before the action in this book. That was parceled out in nice steady dribbles throughout the first third of the book. I liked seeing both guys' perspective, and how they both anticipated seeing each other at the Frozen Four, and the awkward penguin reactions of both of them when they did see each other. Pretty endearing.

Then we went to hockey camp (as coaches, these guys are both college grads at this point), and I just kept hearing in my head the line from "American Pie," slightly modified, "One time, at hockey camp . . . " Yes, lots happens at camp. And did happen at camp back in the day. Ok, you'll need to read it if you want more details. But I bought the story. I liked both characters, and thought that the plot made sense. So yeah, I'll pick up the second book in this series when I get caught up with other stuff I've got stacked on my nightstand and Kindle.

Love this book. Really enjoyed the audio. Favourite narrators! When I first read this book, it was my first MM relationship. Loved the bi-awakening and how they came together. Sweet and spicy.

It was gay and hockey-themed. Enough said.
