Just so…bland? I really don’t know how to describe it. There’s no chemistry between the MCs, and lots of contradicting narrative. He’s a Lich and feels nothing, but can supposedly take a mate?

None of the story flows properly. It was a hard pass for me and I felt like I really had to dredge through it just to finish it.

Wasn’t good and wasn’t bad. Just okay

I didn’t really understand the world building in this book or the mythology? It was part Norse mythology part elves part dystopia. Not that is bad to mix them but it felt all over the place here. The romance was kinda good but not the best. The plot twist wasn’t particularly shocking. It was a fun and quick read but nothing that will stick to me. Will read rest of the series and hope it will be better.

DNF. The two stars are solely for the first half of the book. The rest was ridiculous. The story didn’t make sense and I really wished it did because I like Norse mythology. No connect to the characters at all.

Exciting first book!

This is an exciting opening to the Night Elves Trilogy! Ali is an assassin for the Night Elves and it’s her job to return an object hidden away in a safety deposit box. While on her mission, everything falls apart and she winds up in jail where she meets Marroc. Ali and Marroc escape and go on their own mission to free Marroc from his curse.

It’s always hard to learn a new world and new people. This author does a good job of introducing enough people so you have more than just the main characters, but not enough people that your head is spinning. There’s adventure, magic, a budding romance, and many other wonderful parts to this book.

I do have to throw this out there, because ever since I watched House of Wax when I was younger, I have issues with people losing fingers in books. I know a finger is a benign thing to lose compared to an entire arm or leg, but it unsettled me for some reason.

Anyhow, this is a great first book and I’m looking forward to reading more in this series. I hope you try it! Happy reading y’all!

Cursed Prince is an action packed fantasy book with non stop events to keep you hooked. I devoured the audio book in over 6h in one day and enjoyed it. The story felt quite unique and interesting but it lacked in romance for me and world building. There were words thrown around like Ragnarok and old gods, but the book never explained what those were and who they were and what exactly happened.

I think if the book had some spice and more romance, the world building could have been more forgiven but with those two lacking, for me the book was just an adventure fantasy fast read. It was enjoyable though!

Romance story line seemed forced and rushed at times.
Lot of "telling instead of showing" in terms of character development. FMC kept referring to herself as an " assassin", but this aspect of her character could have been developed more. The characters development seems very rushed.

This book was messy. The set up was interesting. The execution was disjointed.

I liked the story but the narration/audiobook editing wasn’t great.

A romp through mythology

I really enjoyed this one. We follow Ali as she tries to free her dark elf brethren from their underground prison of caves in a post-Ragnarok world full of magical beings and monsters. From the minute she breaks into a bank vault it is non-stop action as she and a new ally travel through the world's of Ydgrassil to find a way to free him of his curse and her people of their entrapment.
There is a light sizzle of romance here but more of an emphasis on world building and adventure. I liked reading Crawford's take on the mythology I am somewhat familiar with and which isn't all that common in today's fiction. Plus, their description of scenarios is intriguing an detailed without being a drag on the storyline.
Highly recommend!
