A couple of things:
1. Not as good as the first book... I wasn't expecting it to be and it's okay that its not. It's hard to replicate that.
2. Plot-wise having Andarna be sleeping for a majority of the book does make some sense. However, from another angle it does just seem a bit like the author didn't feel like writing two dragons...
3. In terms of the ending, I really likedthe first plot twist where Andarna is revealed to be a new species of dragon! It is fun and unexpected (albeit slightly sudden). I am not as much a fan of the second plot twist that Xaden became venin. I do not think it is a choice his character would make (for Violet or otherwise). He has consistently been saying that there had to be other ways to achieve their goals, like when he didn't want to have Violet meet Tecarus. He never wants her to be in danger and him becoming venin is not the lesser of two evils in his situation. I think he would have done a better job thinking around the problem and the ending of the battle wouldn't have been quite so sudden and a bit underwhelming (again, especially compared to the first book's ending battle). Despite this, I am hopeful that the author, rather than sticking with this or taking an easy way out, instead writes herself out of the issue creatively! I think there is a strong potential and skill for her to be able to do this, so, even not being a fan of the trope, I look forward to it!

When you have the first book to compare to, this one sure was a disappointment…😅
It started out well with an interesting plot and new characters being introduced with so much potential! However, by the middle of the book, Xaden and Vi’s relationship quarrels were just repetitive and annoying and I couldn’t help but roll my eyes every time they had another fight. Even worse, all the interesting new side characters they introduced? The author must have gotten amnesia, because we learned nearly NOTHING about them! The only thing they were good for was to fuel Xaden and Vi’s arguments or to serve as a tool to a plot point. It was extremely frustrating to read.
Another thing that made me really frustrated and annoyed was the fact that the author kept throwing things at us in the plot that just made no sense! And even things that could potentially be believable, she gave us no explanation as to why they were happening, they simply came out of nowhere…I’m sorry, but that’s just not acceptable writing in my opinion.
I’m hoping the next book will go back to having the quality of the first one…

i jumped SO quick to this book after the first volume and I lovedd it as well! for some reason, I'm left with a heavy heart after just finishing reading it, but I can't wait to start the 3rd volume! (after touchin some grass first tho) again, I could foresee some things happening, nonetheless still very intriguing, but the final part caught me off guard again and I'm disappointed, not that it's not a good finale but idk I feel disappointed like I was there, next to the characters. damn, this author makes me feel everything, I love it!!

I didnt love this book as much as the first. I found it drawn out and boring at some parts. I also found that she didnt explain somethings as well as she could have. Like she would start to explain something and then got distracted.
But both parts did get me highly emotionals i loved the ending to the first part.
Also i know they are the central relationship and drawn to eachother but at times its a bit excessive.
There is one part on the "throne" that got me. Felt very xaden and like they were in a relationship loved it.
Pros and cons to the book but still a decent read
