Interesting premise, but fairly predictable.

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley. This is an excellent read, hard to put down. It will appeal to Jodi Picoult fans, and fans of Gray's Anatomy, but is not a typical "chick lit" novel. The characters were well crafted. The two stories seemed to weave seamlessly together. I was sad to see it end without answering all of the questions- Does she live? What really happened to her? What will become of her son, her husband? What direction will the writer and the doctor's lives take now?

I look forward to reading more from Carol Cassella.

I always enjoy a story told from multiple points of you. So, we have the doctor Charlotte who is treating and an identified patient, we also get the and identify patients backstory. I found both stories compelling and interesting and was curious to see how they tied together. The pacing was very good in this book, everything was revealed in bits and pieces, and it kept you guessing throughout. Bending, I like the ending in theory, but how realistic was it? I really don't know, I really don't know if I care :-)

This was a beautifully written book showing tragically how two lives intersect. I've never read anything like it, with one character at a present point in time and following another throughout her life. Toward the end, I couldn't stop flipping. Even after I learned how the two protagonists intersect, I was still engrossed until the very last page.

I love books like this. Not necessarily medical drama types, but the kind of book that I look forward to picking up and hate to put down. The characters are interesting, likable, and have depth, and the story had me hooked. I enjoy a good plot twist, especially one that isn't exactly predictable. Trying to put the pieces together of Jane Doe's identity and the circumstances that landed her in the fight for her life were compelling from beginning to end.

Gemini by Carol Cassella is a story in the past and the present. The title of the book "Gemini" refers to the the constellation which tells the mythological story of twin brothers Castor and Pollux born of one mother but two fathers. How the past, the present, and the myth come together is the crux of this books. The book kept me reading because I wanted to see where it ended up.

Since Carol Cassella is a doctor, she knows here stuff. This is a great medical mystery intertwined with an epic and tragic love story. I loved the twists and turns in this book and always love reading stories that are set locally - especially by local authors! Great read.

I think the author definitely took her time intertwining the two stories, which made for a confusing first hundred pages, as it was unclear how the characters were connected. There was also a lot of foreshadowing that never amounted to anything such as when Raney meets David and he calls her 'Raney' despite her introducing herself as 'Renee'. The book culminated in an ending that left much to the imagination which I feel pretty indifferent about. I do wonder if some of the foreshadowing was intentional, trying to allow the reader to glean some hidden meaning from some of those items. I've made my own conclusions about what I think happened. I felt that the characters were fairly underdeveloped and I didn't feel connected to any of them. I did however, enjoy the style of the writing (especially the metaphors) and the story itself.
