This book was just as good as the first. I don’t agree with every world view presented but the story is beautiful crafted nonetheless. I really enjoyed it.

I continue to enjoy Tea's story, both past and present. I am admittedly not fond of books that go back and forth between past and present, but I'll tolerate them if the story is rich and well-written. The series is both for me thus far, though I did have to backtrack a few times to make sure I hadn't missed something. I found a few events slightly confusing, which had to do with wording. Otherwise, I think the plot is well constructed--with Tea telling her story to Bard while she finishes her quest. I loved the fact that Tea's relationships with Kance and Kalen feel more realistic and that she has the wherewithal to understand the difference between love and a passing fancy.

Enjoyment: Sacrificed part of my life to read it – finished in one day
Recommendation: If you’ve read The Bone Witch and want faster pacing and more action
Re-readability: Most likely
Actual rating: 5/5

The 1st book laid out the ground work so well that this book became really action packed and I’m so here for that. We also get a ton of character development. Plot-wise, it’s here when I start to feel there’s some sort of pattern to the plot but it isn’t that big of a deal because from here on out, this book is more character driven.
If the 1st book showed a very contrasting older and younger Tea, this 2nd book of the series shows hints of similarity and gives the readers a bit of hope that maybe Tea isn’t that far gone but also gives us a little more insight on why and how older Tea has become who she has become.

My only problem with this book is the same problem I’ve had with the 1st book about the switching of POV where I get confused with who “I” is. It’s even more prominent here because the bard is more involved with the story now so he gets more personality and presence when it switches to his POV.
