Devastated the eggs were not deviled. Anywho, very fun concept - what if The Thing was a sexy loving partner to only you? Very fun, loves the idea. Feels very isolated, like a Wattpad concept. Oh well, loved this.

This book made me realize the joys of the reading again. Yay, thanks! I liked the description of otherworldly beings in here that was not so human-centric. I

thought it was clever that it wasn't the "heart" that was giving Shesheshen a heartache, which I think a lot of anthropomorphic writers would've done, but it was her own egg-sac that turned into a heart-like thing inside of her.

I thought the ending was quite predictable, which in some ways is good -- It meant for me that the book was tied well-together. I wondered if

Ode was so comically evil -- almost like a devil spawn -- because the editors thought that would make readers feel ok that a child died cruelly. I would think that she, like other children, also tried to gain mother's approval, but were perhaps not so rotten on the inside.

Anyways, I especially love the queer everyday ending!

what an incredible surprise. not a perfect book, at times a bit heavy-handed, but a really original and very beautiful story. loved the monster, loved the dynamics, excellent politics that fantasy had taught me not to expect anymore. just so much to love, you can feel the pulsing heart of this book and the authors passion and beliefs right through it. the ending moved me greatly. very special and well-deserving of all the praise it received

I've never read anything like this book, and I wish I had more of it to read. Very fun monster concept with a little body horror, and AMAZING asexual representation. Highly recommend!
