There's some very good twists and turns in this, the overall story of the ruling family having most of them. Blueberry was delightful but underutilized. But there's maybe too much going on, and the timeline is slightly weird given the way the story is written and things are presented, and there's lots of unanswered questions that I felt should have been addressed. I liked it in general and it was a decently good read, end of the day.

I have such mixed feelings about this. I loved the concept, the characters, the ace rep. That was all amazing. But the pacing was completely off. I felt like I was reading this forever. It was also really repetitive in places, so I found myself skimming parts. I think this would have made an amazing novella or short story.

Overall, the type of horror that evokes the same feeling as the word "moist."

The set-up was amazing, the main character really steals the show with the mildy horrific descriptions of stealing organs needed to function. Loved the word play for characters names, and spent a good amount of time trying to figure out if Homily, Catharsis, Ode, and Epigraph were clues.. they aren't. The second half of the book was a bit less entertaining, could have been much shorter. One amazing twist towards the last 1/3, but wasn't too happy with the ending. Kept the 5 starts for the originality and amazing descriptions
