Great bully romance!

I’m not really into High School romances and the toxicity of this relationship was wild BUT it worked for the plot of the book. Spice was immaculate but still think about for majority of the book they are 14-17 and then towards the 70% mark they are 18.

Intense. Humiliation. Pleasure. Shame. Obsession. Challenge. Addiction. Secrets. Lies.

This story is massive. It encompasses so many emotions and the journey isn’t straightforward. It blindsides you and comes at you sideways. I barely survived reaching that last page. These two characters put me through the ringer. I didn’t always agree with them but there was not a page I turned I didn’t hold my breath anticipating what was next. My feels are a mess. The story was surprising and intricately layered. They use each other and have this struggle for dominance that no one can win. They pushed into uncomfortable territory and met their match in so many ways. The build up was slow as the story I unraveled but the spice levels was a ten alarm fire. Their kinky escapades were out of this world fun to experience even second hand. It packed a wallop I won’t be soon forgetting.

What the absolute hell was this. Spoiler***
Its a great book: interesting, exciting, confusing... I didn't want to put it down (mostly because its impossible for me to DNF). BUT it was also absolutely cringy. Literal quote "hes a horrible human. But hes my horrible human" Im all for a good kinky steamy romance but he treats her like shit... it condones the idea of women "asking for it" when they're sexually assaulted and takes the blame off of the perpetrator. There are so many things wrong with this book morally (I love a morally grey character but this is just depressing) I felt awful for summer. I understand submissive in an intimate setting but she just let whit walk all over her. Also, I think a huge issue I had with this book was the fact that Whits entire personality just did a full 180 in the last 5 chapters. He goes from being an asshole who hates himself and Summer to suddenly being caring tender and sweet. It makes no sense-- at least stick to what your were writing. And in regards to Whits background: we know nothing!! At least with summer we get a glimpse into what made her the way she is but with Whit, hes just a poor little rich boy whose parents went through a sad divorce. Boo hoo! Im pretty sure they call each other jaded like a million times but we have seen no actual reason for whit to be "dark" or "jaded" give us some reasoning please???

It was great at the beginning. Maybe. But a cute epilogue and sex on every second page won't fix how immature these characters are. Like bro, wtf... I can't even find the words. Like, we get it, they're both sick. I don't need a reminder on every second page thank you. "you asked for it" NO. BIG NO. And the Sylvie trope??? Wth. Like, just no.

I’m a sucker for a more romantic tender kind of book and this was anything but that, Atleast until the end

They were drawn to eachother sexually which I something I can’t relate to but still found it very interesting to read about

The way that they couldn’t stay away from eachother felt so right for their characters and what they had been through in life

I do believe they were destined for eachother like they said they were

I am IN LOVE with the Lancaster men and Whit is no exception. If you like bully romances, which I know aren't everyone's cup of tea, you'll love this book!! Whit is mean but he's SO obsessed with Summer. Whit is a rich, possessive bad boy who's made it his mission to make Summers life hell at school. My favorite thing about Summer is that she doesn't back down from Whit and she likes a lot of what he gives. This book is a lot darker than "A Million Kisses In Your Lifetime" but both are so amazing!!

There is just something that completely captivated me into Whit and Summer’s world. From the very first page to that last, I was devouring every word and couldn’t get enough. Two people with darkness all around them, inside of them, who hate each other, find themselves undeniably drawn together. Unexplainable, unwanted, but no idea how to stop. Toxic, sexy, degrading, passionate, unbelievable chemistry. I never wanted it to end.

“Let me go,” I say through clenched teeth, struggling a little. I think he likes it. I sort of like it too. His strength. How I’m too weak to break free. What does this say about me? I’m sick. Twisted. Weird. I’ve always had a what I call ‘the darkness.’ I’ve never met someone who acts like he has it too.”

“I don’t trust her. Something about her sets me on edge. But, of course, I don’t trust anyone. Not anymore. Once you’ve been burned so many times, it’s hard to let down your guard.”

“Do I scare you?” he whispers. Deciding to be truthful, I nod. “Good,” he breathes across my lips, his mouth so close to mine, I can feel it more when he talks. “Because you scare me too.”

“Stay quiet,” he demands. I do my best to obey. But oh God, it’s so difficult. His mouth is the finest torture I’ve ever experienced.”

“I wanted to make her hurt, because I was in pain and no one saw it. No one ever sees it.”

“I’d rather have him be mean toward me than act like I don’t matter to him. Ambivalence is the worst feeling you could ever have for someone, and i tuning that’s what Whit has for me. It’s awful.”

“I’ve owned you since you were fourteen,” he whispers, his voice dark. Stirring up all the dark things buried deep inside of me. “You’ve been in my head ever since that night, you know. Haunting me. No one else could ever measure up.”
