I did enjoy this collaborative effort between Stephen King and one of his children, Owen King.
*Possible spoilers ahead*
I have been thinking, though, how while at first glance there seems to be a strong feminist premise to the book, is it really feminist if the idea of a new space/world to start over afresh free from toxic masculinity is forced up on the cisgender women in the book without them having a choice or a say in the matter? That lack of choice does not contribute to equity. Additionally, is it really feminist if the cisgender women are still at the whims and mercy of men in our world, since their cocooned bodies are still here and essentially defenseless if men who want to hurt them decide to set them on fire or blow them up (several of the men who are otherwise killed by the "Sleeping Beauties" are those who love them woman and are trying to help them be removing their cocoons)? I would be interested to hear what Stephen King's wife and daughter, and Owen's King's mom and sister, thought about the book.

Halfway through and still not interested on how the whole supernatural elements came about. Is there a point? Maybe so, but this is one of those books that would've been better if it just cuts straight to the point than going around in circles exploring each of the character's backstory. This isn't a TV series!
1st DNF of 2019. Life is too short. Too many characters for the genre, heavy-handed, plodding plot, and honestly, a little sexist, even though the point of the book (and the book definitely reads as if there is A POINT) is clearly to illuminate radical sexism in modern society. Give this one a pass.
This novel kept me reading however I did not like it as much as his time travel novel. The premise was really interesting. All the women in the world got into a cocoon like state once they fall asleep. If someone tries to remove the cocoon they become very violent and will kill adults. They then go right back to sleep. There were some fantasy elements to this but overall I found the book to really explore the role men and women have in society. There were many horror aspects and honestly this was a little too long. I felt like it would still have been a good book if it was shorter. Plus there were so many characters that at times it was just too much. Not a bad book but I expected a little more.
Parts of this book are laugh-out-loud funny. I found it fascinating and well-plotted. I think I'll call it "Feminism for Dummies." I'll probably listen to it again!
3.5 stars. Listened to the audiobook a few years ago and never added to Goodreads. This was my first Stephen King book. I enjoyed it but I didn't like the ending.

I think it was waaaayyyy too predictable; the kind of book where you wonder what did you just read once it is over. Would have been worth it if there was another ending, one with a twist.
