A light, easy read. He veers off-topic quite a bit, but the conversational style makes it less distracting than it could be.

He goes off on some tangents but it's an enjoyable read. Especially if you have his voice in your head. :)

It was nice seeing the other side of Project Runway. Tim Gunn is not who I thought he was. He's better. I think people put him on a pedestal because he's admired and respected by the Project Runway contestants and fashion community. But, it was delightful reading about his life struggles and challenges that got him to where he is today.

Being a big Tim Gunn fan, I was pretty sure I was going to like this book long before I started it. It didn't disappoint. It's a completely entertaining light read. I had to resist the temptation to read it all in one sitting. It's a real testament to the writer (and ghost writer) when the reader forgets that they are reading a book and feels as if they are indeed having a conversation with its author. That's definitely the case here. You can't help but hear Gunn's distinctive voice. Somehow he manages to be dishy without being bitchy. Fussy perhaps, justifably so, but defintely not bitchy. He even gets personal about himself without getting embarassing. It works as memoir, essay and even a bit as self help. It definitely scores a hit as entertainment. And you come away from it actually knowing a little more about Tim Gunn. And now I'm an even bigger fan.

Part memoir, part etiquette guide, this wasn't terribly organized, but if you like Tim Gunn (I find him utterly charming), then you will probably enjoy this. Although the focus is on his "life lessons," there is some Project Runway and fashion-world gossip thrown in, as well as some touching anecdotes about his personal and family life.

Rambling, warm and conversational; good advice without being arrogant or bossy. This book made me happy.

Heck yes I read it. I love Tim Gunn!

"I don't enjoy people who think they have it all figured out, because I certainly don't. I like the idea of always learning. Always. If you're not learning, what makes you want to get up in the morning? Why wake up if you have it all figured out?"
