4.5 porque achei a intriga final meio nada a ver e apressada. Mas eu amei tanto que acompanhar o relativo slow burn do relacionamento da Sophie e do Gabriel, que foi fácil de relevar qualquer defeito. Excelente grumpy/sunshine com tudo que amo da trope.

Love it
I absolutely loved reading Gabriel and Sophie’s story. The buildup was fan-freaking-tastic. So. Much. Tension. Loved every second of it.

This was fine but ultimately pretty cliche and repetitive. I didn’t understand why these two were so obsessed with each other besides physical attraction. Plus the angst was so poorly done and just made the two of them seem super immature and reactive. Not at all a believable foundation for healthy long lasting love lmao. Also the nicknames “chatty girl” and “sunshine” were used like once every page and by the end I wanted to scream. The book would have probably been at least one star better if it was single POV bc I hated being inside Gabriel’s head

I had problems with the first 20% and the last 20% but I enjoyed the middle 60%. Some beautiful delayed gratification and tension.
It really bothered me that Jax's suicide attempt is used as plot twist in the beginning and then brushed off so easily. It was so unnecessary for Sophie to be the pap who took the pictures, but even worse, after a moment of milking it for pure melodrama it was forgotten. It felt cheap and I didn't like it. Her abusive past relationship with Martin got some superficial lip service but it never felt real.
It annoyed me even more that Sophie's career is just kinda tacked on. We don't really see her working or any evidence that she's really 'the best social media manager' in the business. She snaps a couple of pictures and then goes off on vacation with Scottie. Her TSTL dumbassery at the bleak moment was doubly irritating for it. You're shit at your job, Sophie! He should fire you!
Also I am begging romance authors to visit r/ABraThatFits. That's not a DD you're describing 😂
Scottie's unbuttoning was delicious but his testosterone fuelled bare knuckle fight club whatever was a wee bit overdone for me. Tbf if straight men don't reassert their masculinity at every opportunity the world will end. I'm pretty sure it's the laws of physics or something. Loved his super fast healing that had the bruises barely noticeable by the next day.
As always I wish from the bottom of my heart that we didn't get The Boyz sitting around discussing how women are such mysterious creatures, they're merely testing men by asking for space.
“It’s simply biology,” Whip says as if he’s suddenly an expert. “Men are wired to love the hunt, and women are wired to love being hunted.”
No.
Like in Idol, I find Kristen Callihan's characterisation kinda weak. She writes chemistry and tension well, but the plot machinery around it feels clumsy and heavy handed to me.
