I really liked the research that went into this...I've been doing a lot of nonfiction reading to really get into black women's history and this was a great start.
I did want to see more in depth stories about black women figures. There were some very interesting people mentioned. I know that there were limitations, the book would have to be thousands of pages long to delve into every little thing. But some of the choices to be highlighted were a little questionable? Not exactly...black women?
Overall, very interesting and clearly a lot of work put in and good to start with.

Honestly, I wanted more out of this overall, but it spends too much time focusing on solely slavery.

The authors did an excellent job of choosing the women to write about and highlight their stories in this book, knowing they couldn't choose all of them. It wasn't an easy read, and I truly wish that history curriculums in schools would discuss the experiences of people of color, women, and other marginalized communities more in-depth.
Most people know about or have at least heard of some of the topics discussed. But what most people don't know is the influence that black women had on these movements and continue to have in society.
While not everything could be covered, the authors included many different women from different groups, including different cultures, religious women, LGBTQ+, etc.
