3.5 stars. Very much enjoyed the dark aspects of this. The switching back and forth in time was a bit confusing in the beginning.

This is a short read yet it has a lot packed into its pages.

We are introduced to Lilly Ryder, who appears to have been kidnapped. She finds herself all alone, and unable to escape. She has, at first, no memory of how she came to be there. But as the story goes on we relive Lilly's past with her, as well as more recent memories, as she begins to try and work out what has happened to her.

As time goes on we learn more and it all starts to make sense, both to Lilly and the reader.

I love that I was totally drawn into the story from the first few sentences, and I stayed that way throughout. This is a genre which has become more popular these days. This story is different however in quite a few ways, all of them good!

I love the idea this is going to be a series of short stories. The next is due April 20th, and future books will be released every three weeks after that.

I can't wait to find out more about the mysterious J.S. and discover what fate has on store for Lilly.

I thought the overall plot line was interesting but felt the story moved too quickly. There was a lot of room to develop the characters and the plot line more so.

I have to say on my first glimpse that this cover is really hot, so kudos to the person who made that. I'm sure the cover alone and the title really drew in some interests. I am so happy my favorite type of book has really taken off, I love a really great Stockholm syndrome book. This is only the first part in the series and I have to say it was really well written. Lilly is a completely likable character, and obviously the wrong person discovered a liking for her. You see it on the news every now and then but really what type of man would just take a girl. So we flashback to Lilly's crappy childhood and learn that she is a survivor. I think that makes her captivity a little easier to take, because if we know her, she's going to do what she needs to survive. She was going to school at Yale and so we also knows she is smart. So I love where this is going and I'm excited for the next installment. Overall entertainment value is five stars. Loved it.

The whole review is a spoiler. It covers books 1 - 4.

Read to me by Alexa.
🌶️🌶️.5 — surprisingly. The sex scenes are either glossed over or vanilla aside from the fact that they are nonconsensual. But he isn’t doing anything particularly kinky to her. And again, they are at time FTB

Okay spoilers galore. Proceed at your own risk.

Sooo…. IM MAD! Jeremy is a piece of shit and Lilly is a damn doormat and I’m mad!

Jeremy kidnaps Lilly. Forces her to sign a contract of sexual slavery for a term of 5 years, by essentially starving her for like a month. After basically being on the verge of death she finally gives in and signs.

As his sex slave Jeremy physically, verbally, and emotionally abuses Lilly. He rapes her repeatedly and treats her sub human at times. ALL of this was not enough to make me hate him. What did it for me…. Is he’s fucking other women! WTF. You give us this despicable human being as the H and he can’t even be faithful. Not only is he sleeping with other women…. He does it in front of Lilly to punish her when she finds out.

I can put up with a lot from an H…. But I draw the line at cheating. I’m really hoping this is more of an erotic thriller than a romance because then there is hope that we might get some vindication for Lilly and maybe she’ll kill his ass in the end. Here’s hoping.

Now for Lilly…… omg she’s horrible. From the moment she wakes up in captivity she’s horribly unobservant and the author does the whole, she’s contrary just for the sake of being contrary. It’s really annoying. Then she decides she’s going to play at being compliant in order to fool Jeremy. He’s of course not fooled but whatever that wasn’t so bad.

What is bad is that she starts to fall for her captor WAY too soon. She goes from hating his guts, to contemplating whether she actually even wants to be free in the span of like 2 days. Literally one night HEA tied her spread eagle to the bed, rapes her repeatedly and basically aims at making her feel like sex doll. She does. She hates his guts , understandably…. And two days later she’s legit trying to decide if she  actually wants to be free of him.

He hadn’t cheated (that we knew of) at this point. So I’m still expecting an HEA and rooting for one. BUT STILL I expect better resistance than this. Yes l… before I knew Jeremy was a cheating sack of shit, I was absolutely rooting for Stockholm Lilly. But not out of the blue. If he had lulled her into a false sense of security for even like a week… I might have let it slide. But no…. He’s nice to her for like a day, and she’s ready to fall inlove with him. Swooning over his smiles and shit. 🙄

THEN, when she finds out he’s a cheater who freaking cheats….. does she have renewed sense of vengeance….. yea for legit like .05 seconds. Then she’s back to wondering if she really wants to go. He leaves her for a few days and when he’s back, she’s like begging for his attention…. Ma’m! Where is the self respect. He had his dick in another bitch 3 days ago and made you listen to it while naked and blindfolded in a corner on the floor…… you listened to them whisper sweet nothings. Now your desperate for his attention?

I’m all for self preservation. She can’t deny him without steep consequences….. but seeking him out? No.

I’m gonna finish the series in hopes that she kills the bastard. If she doesn’t…. I fun now how this author is gonna get me to root for this HEA. At the moment he has no redeeming qualities. Again most of the dark romance girlies agree, if you are terrible because you are obsessed with h, even if that obsession is toxic and abusive…. We will forgive it. But if you’re sticking it else where…. We’ll clearly you aren’t that damn obsessed and now you’re just a horrible abusive POS. Can you tell I’m mad? Like he wasn’t even sorry and she’s barely mad.  He also walked her around like dog after she found out…. Like again…. What are we rooting for other than his death? Hopefully slowly and painfully.

Lilly wakes up alone in a dark and unknown place. She doesn't remember what happened to her or how she got there. All she knows that she woke up with some strange collar on and is tied to a pillar.

Her mysterious and unseen captor, J.S., leaves a contract for her to sign. All it requires from her is submission and servitude for 5 years. Is Lilly strong enough to face whatever may come if she doesn't sign it or will she give in to his demands and become his?

This is a first to me. I've never read anything quite like this before. This is the first book in a captor/captive serial. A fast paced novella that bounced back and forth between Lilly's past and present. Even though it bounced around it was never confusing. I finished this book in just a couple hours. I find myself already addicted to these characters and their story. I can't wait for April 20, 2014 when Uncovering You 2: Submission releases. I need to know what happens next. A definite must read.

First of all - cliffhanger. However, Edwards does note this is simply the first section of the larger novel. If any of you followed the "Anything He Wants" series by Sara Fawkes - this is the same.
Second of all - HOLY BEJEEZUS! I went from the prologue filled with random dates and flashbacks thinking "oh no I don't understand anything, I'm going to hate this" to "omg I love where this is going and it's totally freaking me out, WHERE'S THE REST?!"

Lilly has a spine of steel. She fights every moment she is trapped and confused. She plots and schemes refusing to bow to the wishes of some degenerate kidnapper. I love how sassy she remains despite her situation, I'm a sucker for strong women characters and Lilly is tough incarnate. Though we get only snippets of JS, his persona as demanding and caring is built beautifully. He sounds like the dominant male billionaire I'm going to love and hate in equal measures! From the messages to Lilly's memory - his scenes are perfectly restrained and minimal. This tantalizing start to the "Uncovering You" series promises fights, dark erotic romance, stand-offs, submission, gentleness and spunk. The only problem I have if how long I have to wait until the next one!

Edwards has given us a mysterious, dark novella with a hint of things yet to come and I am literally panting like a dog wanting the next part. While reading I was reminded of the illustrious Kitty Thomas' "Guilty Pleasure's" though who knows where Edwards will take us from this moment forward. This novella has the perfect level of tension and the best intertwined backstory. I was hungry for every ounce of information Edwards wanted to throw my way. This series is truly one to look out for and Edwards darker side is shining with literary magic. Don't take my word for it mark down March the 27th and get your copy asap!

I loved it! It's written well and it's written intelligently, which is really a plus, now more than ever, with all the self-published books I've been reading lately. I thought the history and the build-up were intriguing enough to reel me in so that I can't wait to find out what happens next, and I felt Lilly's pain, confusion and misery as she tried to get a handle on being kidnapped, alone and not knowing what to expect next.

I'd also like to thank Ms. Edwards for considering her readers by:
1) not cutting the story off in the middle of a thought,
2) not making us wait a ridiculous amount of time for the subsequent parts of the story, and
3) charging a reasonable price of $.99.

I can't wait to read the rest of this 5-part serial--next up is Submission on 4/20/14! This is going to be good!
