Deductions aside, this book COMPLETELY changed my opinion of Paris Hilton. I used to truly loathe her most of my life. She just felt like a representation of everything I didn't like? I did hear a few years ago that the dumb, blonde bimbo thing was an act and she is actually a really savvy business woman, and this book really drives that home.
But what I had absolutely no idea whatsoever about was how INSANE her childhood was. Honestly the fact that she's even physically alive let alone not mentally a crumbling mess is astonishing. I had no idea she was in a place for troubled teens or that these places even existed, let alone that so many, including the one she went to, are actual hell holes. It's so sad and crazy how much that experience then shaped and affected her life afterwards, like not being able to go to college because she didn't technically get a GED or HS diploma out of that place--just lots of physical, mental, and emotional abuse.
The other part that struck me about her book was when she talked about the sex tape and her relationships after leaving the residential facility. Paris Hilton an asexual icon?? Amazing. I love that she said that selfies aren't narcissistic, it's women taking back ownership of their bodies that is so often stolen from them--Paris even more so then other women not only because of the sex tape thing but because of the paparazzi that were actual fucking jackals back then.
