I liked this book. It wasn't the best romance book at all and it had some cringy scenes but it was a good read. I enjoyed it and it had me hooked even through the not so great parts. I think that the only element that had me hooked was Wren and Crew's relationship. I think that the plot wasn't great and that the entirety of the environment (school, Wren's home life, the whole teacher mess) was very distracting at points because it was just not the point of the story but it still came up a lot. I get it, it's for the plot but there were stuff that just wasn't necessary. In terms of characters! Crew grew with me throughout the book; I wasn't a fan at the beginning and I was struggling with his personality because of the fact that he just wanted Wren because of her virginity and nothing else. As the story went on I started to like him and could see the attraction he had for her outside of the virginity thing. He is a character that not everyone is going to like but he ultimately will grow on some people. I think that Wren was a bit annoying but again, she had a good development. I think that their relationship was great (the biggest reason why I finished the book). They are a cute couple and the attraction and connection is obvious. There are A LOT of wrong things happening in the book so it definitely is not for everyone but I enjoyed it. Would I read again? Maybe? It wouldn't be my first choice but yes.

The character development in this book is astounding. How did I go from being annoyed by both protagonists in the beginning to falling in love with them only a few chapters in? Their individual voices were so clear that it was easy to see them exactly as they were, which allowed me to witness firsthand their growth both introspectively and as members of society.

This is more than a story of young love. It is a story of acceptance and introspection and learning to create your own boundaries and your own moral compass. Wren, in particular, demonstrated beautifully how a person can take the standards and rules that have been engrained in them and, by giving the people around them the chance to be open with them, use them, reflect upon them and, ultimately, make better decisions that more positively affect not just you but the people around you. Wren’s journey from a naive, judgemental and conservative daughter to an independent, free-thinking and, most of all, accepting woman is truly beautiful.

In other news,
who spends $1.2 million on their girlfriend of like three weeks?! How much was in Crew’s first trust fund?!
