A short, fun book. Looking forward to other Discworld books

Absolutely the kind of completely logical absurdity I love, played out by a cast of lovable and human characters. Also The Luggage.

Now their long war was over and they could get on with the proper concern of civilized nations, which is to prepare for the next one.A light and enjoyable read, but somewhat lackluster when compared to other Pratchett titles. I enjoyed seeing my man Rincewind again (unlike many others, The Colour of Magic remains one of my favorite Discworld novels to date), but otherwise, the plot and wit left me rather apathetic.

I think this is the weakest of the Rincewind books that I’ve read. It’s also the shortest, so that might be part of it. It still has Rincewind failing at living a boring life, and the luggage causing mass destruction. It’s still fully a Rincewind story, but it’s just missing something. Eric is fine, but he doesn’t really do a whole lot. The demons are fun, but they never reach the peak of our previous villains. The best new character is probably the parrot. I think part of what this one is missing is that Rincewind doesn’t accidentally become a hero in this one. That’s one of my favorite parts of his character usually. He tries so hard to not be a part of anything, but when faced with it he usually does the heroic thing and saves everyone. Still good and enjoyable, but just different.
