When entering the realm of dark romance, you're expected to leave your morals at the door and be okay with a lot of questionable things very quickly in order to enjoy the experience. 

Is this another trashy mafia book with 99% erotica and 1% plot? Yes. 

Is it filled with clichés and painfully cheesy and awkward dialogue? Also yes.

Is this hella problematic on multiple levels? Yeah.

But does the narrative also possess a profoundly accurate depiction of trauma and depression? Astonishingly, the answer is also yes.

So yeah... You'll get several whiplashes from the tonal shifts, the numbers of which are increasing in the second half of the book faster than the price of a weekly grocery purchase. But don't worry, while The God of Fury is trying to have many layers, at the end of the day, it's mostly just smut. 


Edit: I did reread it because I realized, strangely, it made me hopeful. So there's that.

No fucking words can describe how beautiful this book was. I had never read an MM book before, so this was a first. But I was so glad that this was the book I started with! Niko and Brans relationship was rocky at first, and the mental health aspect of each of them was just heartbreaking. The push-pull game was difficult to watch, but I seriously couldn’t get enough of them! The spice was beautiful, the characters, plot, and twists were enticing, and when I tell you I sobbed in those last 50 pages… my GOD! It was amazing! I was thoroughly surprised how much Brans story and his character made Lan’s character make so much more sense to me! But my gosh this was just such a beautiful story and I loved every second of it.

This is probably my favourite book of the year. It's characters are well developed and it's plot has everything you could need in a dark romance book.

 guys can we be serious this book was terrible... the writing -dialogue in particular-, the plot, the characters...just extremely Not Good. i'm being very generous and kind in giving this 1.5 stars (rounded to 2 on goodreads), which it only gets because there was just enough for me to finish reading the whole thing so that i could hate-review with credibility. is this what wattpad is like? it was bad. people. this is not good writing and it hurts me to think that there are people out there missing out on better writing. like log onto ao3 and there are at least 70,000 fics better than this
