I liked this a lot, even if Big Jim is a little bit like that annoying kid you just wish would shut up. The dynamic of BJ and Grampa reminded a lot of Del Griffith, if he was a five year old, and Neil Page from Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. I loved when BJ said that a jail could be your own mind of your past mistakes, etc. I almost feel like Dav was talking about sin here without actually talking about sin, so that was kinda neat. That made him seem a lot wiser. This was really funny but like that part was really cool. Also the fact that Dav based BJ off a Bible verse is really neat. I can’t wait for the next one!

Again, I never imagined Dav Pilkey would almost make me cry, but here we are. I love Big Jim. I love Lil' Petey (always!). I love all the literary allusions (even Bible verses! and Mr. Rogers... you got me with Mr. Rogers). Also in the "about the author" bit when he talks about his teacher ripping up his comic and saying he can't make comics all day but "Fortunately Dav was never a good listener"? Wow. Wow, wow, wow. :)
