Goodness gracious. What?

There were some really enjoyable parts in this book, but there was also a lot of stuff that I could have done without or saw coming. I'm overall disappointed.

Oh my gosh

My heart just broke in about a million different pieces, but was also welded together so strongly that you can’t even see the cracks anymore.
What a freaking ride.
Mikayla might think she’s broken, but she might be one of the strongest characters I have ever read about in my life.
Combine that with the light that pours from Jake and you have a literal match made in heaven. I can’t wait to see what else comes for this series.

I freaking LOVED this book :) This is the first book I have read by this author, and I can't WAIT to finish this series!

I loved the build up and anticipation of the whole relationship between Micky and Jake. I liked the presence of James. He was never really an ass except.... that...

I will read and devour everything I can from this author ASAP!

“God Jake, I so much more than a lot like you."
"Mikayla, I passed that stage a long, long time ago.”

I thought this was a cute love story that had an interesting tragic side to it. But I thought her holding out on Jake was just a bit....ridiculous. I also thought the chapters with the jealousy back and forth were never going to end - I just think maybe my reading taste has shifted and these angsty over-the-top romances are not my cup of tea anymore.

Well, there are a few things I dislike about this book, like the insta-something (I don't even know what it was), the one where despite the tragedies that's happen to Kayla she's still horny, and Jake always assuming things. But in the end, I still liked it because once past that, there's a beautiful story underneath. :)

First part of the book was very fast paced, too much was happening way too fast. It was eyeroll and cringe worthy. Some mannerisms/gestures were repeated to an annoying degree. Then suddenly the book found its pace and developed a ton of heart. The latter half of the book had a lot of sexual tension/teasing and that became a bit much at times- just a bit absurd but almost believable when the reason was given why. The dialog and heart in the 2nd half make up for the poor parts of the book and I actually ended up enjoying it. I have all 5 books so now I will start book 2.

Loved it! The first like 20% of the book was quite a roller-coaster of emotions. I mean, damn! Poor Mikayla. Jake was just an absolute DREAM! I was a bit put off by all the tears. I mean, I get it. I'm not a heartless cow, but after awhile, I was a little over the sobbing. I could've done without that twist at the end. Part of me suspected as much, but I was like "naaaahhh that would just be too much." Then I ended up being right. Real talk? This might be the only time in my life I wanted someone to punch a pregnant lady. If you've read it, you get what I'm saying. I did enjoy that cool teaser for the next book. LOGAN! I was like "say whaaaat?!"

This is just a fantastic start to a great series. It's a bit shocking in the beginning. How can one have everything and then lost everything in one night? This book is heart wrenching and funny at the same time. The group of friends in here are fantastic and I would want to be their friend. I absolutely love Jake and Mikayla's relationship, I thought they fell in love a bit fast but due to the circumstances, I think it's understandable. Plus they do get to know more about each other as time past. The sexual tension in this book is high and frustrating to read since they both are so stubborn to admit their love for each other. I understand that Mikayla wants to wait since she just everything and she wants it all to calm down and find herself again before she truly knows what she wants. She doesn't want to base her relationship with Jake on the loss she is feeling and wants to know that their relationship will truly last forever. I absolutely love this book and this series
