Hmm, considering I didn't think much of this author before this, I rather liked this book. I still don't think much of the author though. The things that I don't like about the author are still present. The book starts at the end (or near there) which really just makes it painful to read rather than providing any anticipation. Still, we overcome this and fortunately so do our main characters.

In my opinion, not one of Coelho's best. While a peaceful read, I didn't find the characters or story to be memorable or impactful as some of his other novels. Pilar and her unnamed love were very flat and generalized characters; as a result, I found myself rather indifferent to their fates and mentally snoozing as I sped through the book.
