I would only take off .5 stars for the title, which I had to apologize for to a lot of people. So awkward.

The last three books I've read have all been very dark and intense. So, I was really in need of a palate cleanser after that. And here comes this book which is just about as different from dark and intense as a book could possibly be. This is a funny and warm hearted book about travel, something I love to do. It is also about the challenges of being single in your 30s and slowly realizing that you are just about the only single person left in your group of friends. That is also something I can relate to.
As someone who will very soon be spending a good six to eight weeks overseas, this book definitely gave me unrealistic expectations about what my trip will be like! Especially since I'll be going to some of the countries that she visits in this book. Here's hoping I'll have the same experience she did in those countries!
This book definitely reminded me of Eat, Pray, Love and Wild. Those just happen to be two books that I love so I guess I already had a soft spot in my heart toward this one. Is it the most well written and engaging book? No. But it wasn't going for that either. It is funny and sweet and poignant and I liked that aspect of it. Overall, I really enjoyed this book and am glad I read it. And now I am looking forward even more than I already was to my upcoming trips! Maybe I too will have a wild affair with a hot Argentinean man! A boy can dream, can't he?!

I really enjoyed reading this. It definitely had some markers of being about the early 2000s in it (some weird racial stuff, fetishizing foreigners etc.). I probably would’ve enjoyed it more if I wasn’t reading it 10 years after it came out

I loved this quirky title and premise and given it was a short, quick read, I decided to give it a whirl. I simply adored this memoir. This is a sitcom comedy writer's (for some rather popular shows)description of her travels in her late 20's and throughout most of her 30's. Basically she had 2 long term boyfriends, was a bit of a commitment-phobe and not ready to settle down and instead after both relationships ended, decided to travel on her down time from writing(it starts with her traveling with friends but she ultimately starts making solo trips, which is something I would LOVE to do). Some may judge her for some of her flings abroad(although one became a bit of an obsession meaning she was really hung up on would they ever make it a real thing), but you know what, she was living her life the way she wanted to and made no apologies for it. I admire her gusto, her zest for life and adventures. Ultimately too, there is a happy ending and the thing I liked the most, throughout all her adventures, she truly found herself and what she wanted from life (and what she didn't). I definitely need to visit some of her travels (I found a website with some of her travel photos and they look AMAZING). I didn't give it five stars because she hints at the end about her first European trip with her first boyfriend and wants to keep those things private, uhh she shouldn't have mentioned that because now I am curious even if she wants to hold those memories close to her. haha I highly recommend this book for those who are looking to find themselves, who love traveling, or who like reading memoirs.

Easy and fun read!

This book was so good I finished it in less than a week and once it was over I stalked the author to see how her story continued to play out. I am SO PROUD OF HER and yet I do not know her. Minus one star for some comments about other cultures that were probably fine to say in 2011 but made me pause with a tiny “yikes” while reading. Still would recommend.

BOOK THE FLIGHT. BOOK THE FLIGHT. BOOK THE FLIGHT. I read this book right after graduating college in Mississippi, as I was missing my semester studying abroad and suddenly saw many of my 22 year old friends getting engaged. This incredibly funny and insightful memoir has become my top gift book to girlfriends who want more than just getting married. Not that anything is wrong with marriage, but it allowed me to realize that I am SO okay with not being married and settled at 25 and instead have a nearly full passport and endless travel stories. All in all, the best travel memoir I've read!
