It was ok. But I preferred Ruth & Evan's story in book one.

The 2nd in a series. I enjoyed it even though at some point the main characters inability/unwillingness to just talk drove me crazy. But at the same time... I don't talk about my feelings either, so I get it.

This was ok. Started really slow. And a lot of unnecessary inner monologues imo. No mention of Hannah being on the spectrum as her sister Ruth is, but I wonder. I not invested enough to want to read the last book.

Yup! This was good!
Why am I not surprised I LOVED this. It was the perfect mix of angst, comedic relief, real world small town drama, and living while black issues. With a splash of black girl magic and romantic tension. Absolutely loved it! And we needed Hannah's story after getting Ruth's story and seeing how she unapologetically rallied for her sister.

Honestly Hibbert could write a phonebook and I would enjoy it, her writing just sucks you in. I liked the first novel of this series a bit better, mostly because I liked the couple dynamic there more. However, this novel was still very sweet - there hasn't been a male lead character of Hibbert's that I haven't liked.
