The Maid’s Diary is a thriller based around a maid named Kit working in elite households in Vancouver, Canada who has a snooping problem. When she is hired to clean a former Olympic skier and his wife’s house, Kit stumbles across some secrets that the owners of the house definitely don’t want to get out. And these secrets might just be worth killing for.

I had the opportunity to receive this book as part of the Amazon First Reads program. As a member of Amazon Prime I am able to choose one ebook a month to read before it is officially released to the public. For the month of February I chose this book and was very excited for it. Due to my backlog of books, I wasn’t able to get to it until April, but I wish I had picked it up sooner. It’s from multiple POVs including some that are named, and others of which we don't know if they are reliable or not which keeps it interesting. In the beginning, it was a bit confusing switching between all the narrators and timelines, but once I was a few chapters in it was easier to distinguish each POV. Throughout the book I kept thinking I knew what was going on, it seemed like a pretty straightforward murder that was covered up. But that was very much not the case. I know some people don’t like when new clues and suspects come out of nowhere and there are many red herrings, but I really like that style so this book was a hit for me!

I didn’t rate it 5/5 stars because it wasn’t life-altering or stare-at-the-wall-speechless, but it was very intriguing and a really great thriller. Gave similar vibes as The Perfect Wife and The Couple Next Door where you were guessing who you could trust and who was telling the truth. Overall, recommend this to a fan of thriller and suspense novels, and I will definitely be on the lookout for more books by Loreth Anne White!

I have been reading many fantasy/witchy books recently, but my genre used to be thriller.
After reading a butt tonne of Frieda McFadden books that began to make my brain hurt, I came away and started on ACOTAR, TOG, etc.
Coming back to this genre and reading this book genuinely surprised me. I liked the multiple points of view and multiple characters. Very early on in the book, I tried to figure out who these might have been and if, for example, Daisy and the maid were the same at some point in the timeline. Alas, I was so wrong!
I read this book in much less time than the 7 hours 25 minutes or whatever Kindle said. For me, it was a suspenseful and thrilling page-turner. I was gripped to almost the last minute trying to figure out who dunnit, but for me, the ending was very lacklustre, all be it quite happy and redemption arc-y.
All in all, I give this book 4 stars as I did read it sooo quickly and was hooked, but for me, as the ending crept closer things just started to unravel and felt a little unpolished or rushed.
