This is the third book I’ve listened to by this author and was my favorite. Great pacing, kept me guessing and the ending had a twist that was well done.

This was a fun and engaging thriller, even if it felt a bit predictable overall. One thing I really appreciated was that the identity of the murder victim wasn’t revealed right away—it kept me curious and turning the pages to find out what happened.

That said, it didn’t feel like it brought anything particularly fresh to the genre. I get that it’s tough to break new ground in thrillers, but at times it felt like the author wasn’t even trying to.

I also struggled to connect with the characters. None of them came across as especially sympathetic or redeemable, which made it hard to fully invest in their fates—despite the fact that they’ve clearly been through a lot.

One thing that really didn’t sit well with me was the use of explicit racism to make a character seem more villainous. It felt out of place in a story that otherwise didn’t deal with race at all, and it came off as a clumsy attempt to force a reaction rather than something meaningful.

I thought this was going to be meh, but it turned out to be so good! I couldn’t put it down. What a satisfying ending!

This was GOOD and well worth the 5 star rating. Told in multiple perspectives. Kit is a maid and when she stumbles across the house of someone from her past, she knows she can't let the opportunity pass. Snooping is her thing, but how far will she go? Daisy is married and pregnant, and is convinced she's being stalked. She confides in her friend, Vanessa, but she can't confide in her husband, Jon. He won't believe her.

There's too much to even sum up here. This was so good, totally unpredictable and very very entertaining!

Pretty decent mystery with lots of twists and turns.

Read for mystery book club, November 2024.

I am sitting here absolutely stunned, wondering what on earth I just read. This book is nothing short of mind-blowing.

After hearing so many rave reviews, I was hesitant to pick it up. I worried it couldn’t possibly live up to the hype. I delayed and delayed, but I finally caved and got it on Kindle. From the moment I started, I was hooked. I couldn’t stop thinking about it, even at work. Desperate to keep going while multitasking, I hunted down an audiobook version, and when I saw it on Audible, I used my last credit without hesitation.

And wow—what an experience. This story is a masterclass in tension, trauma, and the unexpected. The way it explores victims and survival is utterly haunting, and the twists had me gasping out loud. It’s gripping, unrelenting, and left me questioning everything by the end. I can’t stop thinking about it, even now. If you’re on the fence about this one, don’t wait—read it. You’ll be stunned too.
