It’s so hard for me to rate this one because while I liked it it also felt very long.. then I realized it’s not actually that long so that’s probably not good that it felt so long??? I didn’t expect the twist at all but it also didn’t shock me and I like TO BE SHOCKED
Good overall “whodunit” story.
3/5 ⭐️’s because the flip flop between all the characters is very, very confusing. Especially when listening to the audio and it’s the same voice actor for all point of views. She has a couple good accents going but overall, very confusing.
I would recommend reading the physical copy.

Well, Loreth Anne White has done it again. I think she has to be the most underrated thriller writer on bookstagram. I can easily compare her to Ruth Ware, Alice Feeney and Jennifer Hillier for her brilliant storytelling and shocking twists, yet I don’t see the same hype around her.
This book was an absolute winner for me. I had no idea where it was going until everything fell into place towards the end.
Kit is a maid who likes to snoop around other people's homes. As we soon discover, her therapist thinks it is a good idea to keep a diary to help her overcome some big trauma from her past. Through these diary entries that are interspersed throughout the book, we learn how horrific the trauma she has suffered truly was.
During her daily routines in one of the new homes assigned to her, she sees a picture of the couple living there and her whole world changes.
I don't want to reveal more, because the book delivers information in layers, and it was so captivating to peel them back as you go along. Like an illusionist the author tricks us into thinking we know the answers, but with each chapter we learn something new and the twists and turns are just out of this world.
Masterfully written with a clever plot line and brilliant characterization the ending had me punching my fist in the air with satisfaction.

Slower beginning/lots of characters introduced right away but I became hooked around 50/60% in and couldn't put it down
EDIT: ( giving this 5 stars because I can’t stop thinking about it this morning) This book was so good wow. Kept me guessing the whole time. The start of it was a little slow but then it picks up and it just keeps getting faster and faster and suddenly you’re at the end of the book because you couldn’t stop reading it. The amount of twist and turn this book put me on. I had to put it down so many times and say “what is going on” or “what the fuck” because I had no clue how this was going to end I was completely blindsided.

4.5 stars rounded up. I’m just left with the question of Horton - was I supposed to read between the lines and infer something there? Why create this small subplot if it is not important?
Ehhh? Until it started wrapping up, I was into this. It's a quick read with lots of pieces to put together. But I didn't like almost any pieces of the resolution.
