Holy shit, this was a brilliant book. I adore the slow but steady progression of Lucifer.

DID NOT FINISH: 20%

Intriguing concept with the potential for so much tragedy and sexiness, if only the author wasn't so self-indulgent and obsessed with his own very special OCs.

The 20% (approx 75/370 pages) that I lasted through consisted of following Lucifer around Heaven and being subjected to endless, insanely over-written descriptions of how stunningly gorgeous he and everyone else are, what clothes they're wearing, how much jewellery they're wearing, their exact hair, skin and eye colours just in case you might have wanted to use your imagination to picture these characters, all in the most insufferable and ineffective "poetic" prose.

This is written much like (bad) fanfiction, where the characters do pretty much nothing except exist in their world, eat things, bathe, lounge around, explore the world, and, inexplicably in this particularly book, weep a lot. For this to work, readers have to already know and love the characters, which is why fanfiction like this exists. Here, there is nothing that allows me to get to know the characters at all.

Maybe there is a plot that kicks in eventually, like the synopsis promises, but I just couldn't bear this any longer. Not to mention, I read some spoiler reviews (to see if it was worth continuing) and several mentioned that God rapes Lucifer and this is the catalyst for his fall? Correct me if that's inaccurate info, but if it is accurate, that's incredibly cheap writing, painfully simple, when his fall could've been complex and hard-hitting. And this is the exact MO of so much fanfic and indie webcomic-type writing, it's painfully predictable.

I'll be thinking about this book until the day I die
I'll also be fistfighting god
