You'll say you hate me and lock me for a thousand years, but then you'll set me free. Father loves all His creations, I sang it in a psalm once, and you smiled. In wrath, you will still love me, won't you? You will always love me.
this book actually pushed me into a mini depression so bravo. i mean this as the highest compliment - this fucked me up in the way that is mostly reserved for very good fanfiction. I felt Intensely about all of it and I loved the pace. My one gripe with this book is that the internal dialogue was sometimes really hard to parse out and could be confusing. also definitely two different vibes to this book in part 1 and 2 so beware.

Well… before we start, Lucifer was right haha
Anyway… I heard so much about this book and sadly, most of it was not even close to what happened in the book. So that’s a bit of a disappointment.
It was an extremely character driven book, but I loved Lucifer so much, he was just adorable. I’m usually more of a story driven reader, but the characters in this just gripped me hard and I couldn’t wait to see what’s gonna happen. I don’t want to say too much because I don’t want to spoil, but I think everybody should read this.. unless you are deeply religious, then I don’t think this is for you.
I kinda knew the ending and who would be involved - thanks, Supernatural haha - but I still hoped for something different.
4 stars because the writing style I wasn’t really a fan of and because of the ending. It felt really rushed, like a boring sentence cut off in the middle of it, with no satisfying conclusion.
I’m still really interested in the sequel so I’ll be picking that one up sometime.

Despite the very slow pace, Lucifer's transition from innocence and naivety to pride, embrace of debauchery, and the belief he could defeat God still felt too rushed to me. I really enjoyed parts of it, but the rest felt like a slog. It didn't help that I'm personally not a fan of flowery language, although I admit it was appropriate, given the subject matter.
