Little Fires Everywhere kept me hooked until the very end with its web of secrets and morally gray concepts. Following the neighborhood drama of Mia and Pearl, the Richardsons and the McCulloughs through classism, adoption trauma, and every kind of family challenge you can imagine felt like a roller coaster ride. There were so many storylines and at times the plot felt a bit overcrowded, with some moments feeling out of place. However, in the end, just about all the loose ends were tied up in a fascinating way. My loyalties were pretty divided and shifted frequently. I'm still conflicted about how the book "should" have ended, but this made the actual ending all the more thought provoking. While it’s not a thriller or true crime novel, it often felt like one, with moments of tension and suspense that kept me flipping pages. I devoured it in a day.

I’m not sure what to think about this book. I wasn’t around in the 80s & 90s but many of the storylines seem rather… unrealistic. But the plot twist(s) at the end were to die for!

Well written, even if some of the characters and situations were infuriating. There were moments when I “awwwww’d” and moments when I was too frustrated to read another word. Overall I found the book sad, but in a good way.

This book has a very slow pace. Don't believe me? Storygraph's summary states "When old family friends of the Richardsons attempt to adopt a Chinese-American baby, a custody battle erupts". So this is the plot, yes? Then the plot does not begin to unspool until 36% of the book had already passed. That's 4 hours into the audiobook. This book really felt like one good debate sitting in a sea of uninteresting familial "drama" (even calling it so seems hyperbolic). Though, undoubtedly, someone who cares more for meditative works and thorough descriptive writing would appreciate this book for more than I can.
