Gender prescribes how we should be, instead of how we are

A short yet powerful read.
I found myself constantly stopping and taking notes, repeating lines to commit them to memory.
It will take about an hour to read, and you will be thinking about it for much longer.

She makes points that are simple common sense, yet somehow a point I never thought of before.
About the way we raise our children, boys to be tough and girls to be accommodating, and imagines a world where "Boys will not longer have the pressure of proving their masculinity by material means"

The words by this " happy African feminist, who does not hate men and who likes to wear lip gloss and high heels for herself and not for men" will stay with you.

Highly recommend the audiobook. It is a quick and important read.

A really quick and easy way to understand feminism. For anyone curious & unsure about feminism, I think this is a great place to start. I was looking for more meat, but I’m a bit farther along in my journey.

Subtitle: Shallow Intro to TERF Feminism

This is not really a book. I also didn’t feel as though there was really anything original in it, hence only 2 stars.

Chimamanda beautifully addresses the negative connotations surrounding the word 'feminism' and reminds us what this movement truly means. It reiterated all my feelings towards the topic in a concise and impactful manner. It talks about how both genders suffer in different manners. I especially liked this thought - 'Gender defines how we should be instead of recognising what we are'.
Highly Recommended!
