I did not expect this book to be this good and it totally blew my mind. I connected with the book because I saw myself in Peyton. Her desperation for friends that led her to bad ones and the fact that friends are not something you look for but more something you stumble upon especially the good ones.Like her I always found myself wishing for a best friend that you read about in books or a squad of friends to rely on, and connecting with Peyton allowed me to find understanding as well. Good friends are not the ones you force a friendship with , they happen by chance and in the most beautiful ways. It was sad to be that I could understand when Peyton read friendship books to prepare herself, when she changed herself for people to like her or did things she didn't want to to be liked. I saw how wrong it was. I hope one day I will have that but until then I will be content to be alone and discover who I am in the process. Another thing I learned is that to be alone is not a bad thing. Society will tell you it is and that if you are alone there is a reason but sometimes there is not. Not all the time you will find friends where you are and it does not mean something is wrong with you. There is a whole world out there waiting for you, people to meet and places to see. Where you are is not where you will always be.
Lots to learn from this book and highly recommend.

Destination Anywhere follows Peyton, who has spent her school years alone, bullied and friendless for the most part. Having a chance at friendship didn't work out well for her, so now she is on a plane to Canada with only her backpack and sketchbook with her to keep her company.

Sara Barnard is one of my favourite authors due to the relatable themes in her novels and the amount of emotion that comes with them! The bullying that the main character goes through (maybe not to the later extent) is something that most can relate to, which makes Peyton such a sympathetic character.
The novel switches between different POV's and I found this to be quite engaging as a reader! This novel focuses on themes such as bullying, identity and adventure - this book had sprinkles of romance but the romance wasn't central to the plot which is something that I really enjoyed!

This book reminds you that there are truly kind people in the world and you are worthy of love. Things will get better.

Peyton is running. She's not sure what from, or where to. She just knows she can't stay where she is. Told in two timelines, this is the story of how far you sometimes have to go to find home.

Sara Barnard always makes me cry. I opened it just now to check a quote and welled up again.

This is a beautiful story. Peyton is a fabulous character; parts of her backstory feel ripped from mine, and I imagine most people will empathise with her. (Unless you're Amber. Don't be Amber.) the descriptions are amazing. Sara clearly loves Canada very much. I'm so tempted to go and see these places myself. (I'm writing during the Coronovirus lockdown, so I can' actually go, but I'd really like to!)

I loved how brave Peyton was, even though she didn't believe she was. And how much she appreciated everyone; it really was lovely. Her new (real) friends were great, too. I want a Beasey, please. I'd settle for a Khalil, but really, Beasey is just wonderful.

Whatever else happens, this happened. I will try and apply that to my life in future. This was just a beautiful read all around. Fabulous.

I was just kind of bored. When I saw the title, I thought there’d be a lot of traveling, but just Canada… it took me longer to get through because I just didn’t care for the main character that much. It was okay, but not my fave.
